I couldn’t recommend Thornalley’s highly enough. They looked after our mum with such tender loving care, and received my brother and me in the same way. Everything was so professional and compassionate from the initial meeting, the arrangement of a celebrant, the order of service booklet (which was lovely) and the ceremony itself). We couldn’t thank the team highly enough for arranging such a beautiful and fitting ceremony.

Communication could be a little better, good introduction at first, but some unaswered emails and more clarity required about what is being done and by who. Not clear how much time was available to us at crematorium, felt a little rushed out, we were 5 minutes late admittedly - hope this helps you with future clients

In response to your review, I will answer the points below:

Firstly, we are sorry that you don’t feel you received a 5* service from us. After looking through our mailbox I can see every email was replied to, this is something we always do, but I think the confusion may have been that we received emails and telephone calls from yourself, your brother and also from your Mother giving and changing instructions that maybe you felt you didn’t directly receive all the information personally from us. However, I can ensure you everything was done as asked.

At the time of making Dad’s funeral arrangements with your Mother and brother, Mother asked us to order the coffin spray. This is something we don’t normally do but to help, we arranged this for her. Obviously, you were not aware of this as you ordered your own coffin spray from the same florist and cancelled our order.

With regards to the Crematorium, the service chapel has to be cleaned and tidied between each service and we have to be very much on time due to the following funeral directly after us and for subsequent funerals for the rest of the day. Due to us starting approximately 12+ minutes late we had to be very aware of this, although your Father’s committal service was still the same length of time it would have been had we commenced on time.

If there are anymore concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us as we want to know and are always on the end of the telephone for you.

The care shown to myself & my family at such a difficult time was amazing. From the first visit it felt like my Dad would be in safe hands. Every call I received, every conversation I had it was always your Dad he was never just a person. Every detail was taken care of with such thoughtfulness. I would highly recommend Thornalley even down to receiving the final bill a lovely little extra touch is included in the envelope.

We cannot fault the service we received from the whole team, from our initial enquiry through to the funeral itself. We were given time to make our decisions and Andrew was always there to give us any help we needed, as were other staff. We felt we were dealing with friends rather than a business.

The attention to detail was impeccable, so respectful & kind. Each part of the process, explained, with guidance on the parts you perhaps wouldn't even think of, while in the moment. The whole family were impressed by the whole of the team involved. The planning stage was made much easier, as each decision for the family was given time, even for phone calls to family unable to attend.
