My heartfelt thanks to Michelle and the team at Roseberry Funeral Service. During such a difficult time, their care, attention to detail, compassion and professionalism far surpassed my expectations. Michelle worked tirelessly to make sure the service included the personal touches I wanted and nothing was too much trouble and Mum had the send off she truly deserved.

Having spoken to different companies, I knew we would be looked after with Roseberry Funeral Service. We spoke to Tony initially who then continued to support us as our funeral director. Nothing was too much trouble and really did help us to create the perfect send off. They went above and beyond our expectations and as a family we cannot thank them enough. Highly recommend

My family have used Roseberry Funeral Service for many years. Even though my mother had moved to a care home in Whitby for the last year of her life, to be closer to her family, this was not a problem at all. All the arrangements were made with Michelle in person and we had constant communication from her. We were able to see mum when it was convenient for us which was a great help as we had family travelling. All the the staff were immensely helpful. They arranged all the details for the funeral, flowers, cars and refreshments afterwards. The day went as planned, and we consider it was a very fitting tribute to my mother. Roseberry Funeral were thoroughly professional throughout, and their staff made a very difficult time, as easy as it could have been for my family. I am very grateful for all of their help. Should anyone be in the same situation, I wouldn't hesitate to say that this is the funeral directors for you

I cannot thank Roseberry Funeral Service enough arranging mum’s funeral was never going to be easy, all the family were always going to be sceptical of which funeral home mum would rest at as of course we wanted nothing but the best. After deciding we would go with Roseberrys’ from a recommendation we then made that dreaded call and spoke to a lady called Michelle and from that moment we knew mum was going to be in the right hands and I instantly got a feeling of relief, Michelle was amazing she talked me through everything in detail and assured me mum would be in the best possible care. Leading up to the funeral day Michelle and the team couldn’t do enough for me and our family the support was impeccable. The care and attention towards mum was just outstanding. The day of the funeral was always going to be hard but beside a hugely attentive professional team and attention to detail the day went smoothly and the service was beautiful which we took comfort from.
We can’t thank your company enough and would highly recommend this independent company to anybody going through a bereavement. -

Very caring and helpful staff who were able to explain and guide me through the sad stages following a bereavement. Having arranged a prepaid funeral plan for a loved one, they were able to let me go above and beyond what I thought would be allowed to do. I can recommend them to anyone having to go through this very sad time.

I am compelled to share this review in the hopes of sparing others from enduring the distressing ordeal that my family experienced during an already difficult time in our lives. The level of aftercare provided by Roseberry Funerals was shockingly substandard and showed a profound lack of respect for the memory of my late brother, whom we sadly lost in February. Initially, the funeral arrangements appeared satisfactory, and our family had nothing but praise for their services. However, immediately following the service, we were thrust into a state of utter chaos. To our disbelief, we were handed my brother's lock of hair, war medals, and green beret in a carrier bag adorned with Peter Rabbit, which we found to be highly unprofessional and undignified, especially considering we had to safeguard these items during the wake. Another disheartening incident was the complete absence of communication for nearly four weeks, despite being assured that we would receive a call informing us when Chris's ashes would be returned to their care. Frustrated by the prolonged silence, we had no choice but to contact them ourselves to inquire about the expected timeframe, only to discover that his ashes had been in their possession just two days after the cremation. This significant delay was not only highly unprofessional but also deeply unsettling for our family. When we raised concerns about the lack of notification, we were pointed to the final invoice, which referred to Chris as an "item" and supposedly included the information. However, we found this explanation to be invalid since the letter was sent before Chris's cremation took place. Upon collecting my brother, our distress reached new depths as we were confronted with the sight of him in a flowery card box instead of the wooden casket we had previously paid for. Although the Funeral Director attempted to rectify the situation, she returned with a wooden casket bearing the wrong name. When we brought this issue to their attention, we were met with lies and falsely informed that, since Chris wasn't being buried, his birth name had to be displayed on the casket—an assertion that we later discovered to be completely untrue. Shockingly, not a single apology was offered to us at any point during this harrowing experience, even though the Funeral Director admitted to not verifying the correct details when getting the plaque engraved. As if our trauma wasn't enough, we were then informed that the Funeral Director had disposed of my brother's clothing without our consent. When we confronted them about this distressing revelation, we were met with further falsehoods, including the claim that his clothes were heavily soiled and that they had taken it upon themselves to dispose of them. We knew these assertions to be false, as the coroner confirmed that the Funeral Director had requested him to falsely state that the clothes were soiled, despite his own statement that they were not. This blatant lie not only further eroded our trust but also added to the deep degradation we felt upon learning that my brother's name had been wrongly associated with such actions, which we have evidence to prove as untrue. Furthermore, despite being promised a war memorial plaque at Redcar, no mention of it has been made since the conclusion of the service, further exacerbating our disappointment and dissatisfaction. I urge you to exercise caution if you are considering engaging the services of this funeral director. We deeply regret not selecting an alternative provider, as the entire experience has inflicted immense trauma upon our family

Dear Alison,
Thank you for leaving a review on your experience of Roseberry Funeral Service. I have taken some time to write this response.
I am sorry that you do not feel your aftercare met our normal high standards. Roseberry Funeral Service are obliged to comply with all relevant legislation, we also choose to follow standards set out by funeral associations, in relation to the concerns raised about the clothing and the use of the legal name on the nameplate. We would also like to stress that we would never ask the Coroner, or anyone else, to lie on our behalf. It is unfortunate that by following these, it impacted on your perception of us. Your Funeral Director knew how important those items were to you and thought that they would give you comfort to have them back. This was done by using the same bag that they were given to us in.
The memorial wall plaque was ordered at the time but as this part of the remembrance garden of a third party, we can only work from their time scale. Any updates we have asked to be given to yourselves directly.
Customer feedback is very important to us and we continually seek to improve and learn. In order to make sure our families are fully aware that their loved ones ashes are in our care, we have made additional improvements to this process. We do apologies once again that the process, on this occasion, did not work. -

The staff at Roseberry Funerals were very supportive and professional during our time of loss. They took all the stress and pressure off us when we were lost and confused what to do. Even after the funeral the support didn't end. We were kept informed and involved with everything. Nothing was too much trouble. Comforting drinks offered with a genuine care for everyone, their passion to maintain the dignity of my nan was comforting and very much appreciated.
I would highly recommend this funeral directors to anyone who wants a personal touch. They made the whole process as easy as could be. Thanks you. -

I can not thank Roseberry Funeral Service enough. From the moment I rang Graham the funeral director was supportive; caring and there every step of the way for me and my family He carried out all of our wishes and always listened to how and what we wanted for the service. On the day of the funeral he walked in front of the hearse, was there for us as we were not sure what to do. All the staff were so professional, polite and showed us the upmost respect. The service went perfectly just as we wanted. We would highly recommend Roseberry Funeral Service and their staff.

I have to say that from first meeting Michelle and team, I knew I would be in good hands. We had very specific requirements that needed to be carried out, but this was not a problem for Michelle. When we visited the Chapel of Rest, I was really apprehensive about going in to visit as I had never done this before. Michelle told me what to expect, calmed my nerves, made me a a cup of tea and sat in with me for a while. I was absoloutely over the moon with how Martin looked. The day of the funeral was just beautiful. Everything I asked for I got (and more). She really did go above and beyond. Michelle and team at Roseberry, thank you. Thank you for getting me through this difficult time. Thank you to the staff who came to the house at 3am in the morning. You all are incredible. Xxx
