So sorry not to have been present on May 17th, Sheila. A difficult decision for us to make, but thanks to the webcast we were able to hear everything that was said about you.
So many memories for me, of Warren Avenue, with Mum, Dad, Pam, me and you, Sheila, a kind, loving sister. I was the spoiled young brother. The years passed, I went away to university, you were married to Noel, and a few years later I was married to Danièle.
We loved visiting your flat in Seaward Tower, Gosport, when we came to England to stay with Mum and Dad: such spectacular views! Then came the visits to Western Road and Luard Court, where we saw Catherine, Leon and Ross growing up, and you always made our children very welcome: Auntie Sheila, kind, affectionate. Memories of summer on the beach at Hayling Island or of Christmas, Mum and Dad still with us.
Sadly, the latter years were not as you or we had hoped. You were lost to family and friends. So let’s remember the last time we saw you, at Oak View, a very happy person, “dancing” in your armchair and singing along with the videos of some classic rock ‘n’ roll songs.
We’lll miss you Sheila.
