In loving memory of Robin Challoner who sadly passed away on 8th April 2022.
Robin's life began in Stockport, Manchester in 1964, before he moved to Taunton, Somerset.
He is the loving brother of Alex Challoner and son of Michael and Valerie. Robin became a great chess player, representing his county, and also loved to play tennis at the Elms Tennis Club. He attended Wellington School, Somerset, and went onto Durham University where he gained an upper second honours in Chemistry and a doctorate in the faculty of sciences. Robin worked around the world as a research fellow at University of British Columbia, Bayreuth University, Oxford University and University of East Anglia. He has over 18 pieces of academic research accredited to his name along with others. Robin returned to Taunton when he had to leave academia due to ill health. He developed many lovely friends and spent his last days at Kilkenny Court. Robin is survived by his beautiful cat Charli who is looked after by his brother Alex & family in London.

Sincere condolences to Robin's family. I have so many wonderful memories of playing chess with Robin (and losing) and trying to persuade him that physics is better than chemistry (stalemate). After graduating, I am glad that we kept in touch via email, and sometimes met up in Taunton, and when I faced legal difficulties Robin was one of the first people to offer his help and support. Rest in peace.

Dear Simon, many thanks for these kind words. We gave Robin a beautiful send off last weekend. Mr Neville came along so that was a lovely connection with Wellington School. The last song we chose was

Dear Mr Neville, thank you so much. We will very much miss Robin but Saturday will be a good day to remember some many of Robin's achievements which you helped with so much.
