Great memories of Alan since starting school together Easter 1958. He was the fastest runner in the playground at the start of his sporting excellence. So many great football, Tennis, Badminton and Table Tennis matches. Working together in Church for over 40 years on all types of Services. His Ministry in the Village was first class and his memory for names legend. A true friend whose memory will live with me until we meet again in glory

A wonderful caring man who coloured my whole life. I think in 54yrs of knowing him, i can count on one hand times i saw him without that sparkling smile on his face. Whether at Church Youth Club, the many footy matches he took the Church youth footy team on (despite the fact we were rubbish!) and enabling me to have the absolute best day i could on blessing my marriage. With my dad already passed, there was noone else i wanted to do it, and to have Alan at the front of the church on the most important day of my life was irreplaceable. I hope you can find comfort in his faith having taken him to a better place. Love to you all, Gary.

Alan las left a huge legacy at New Silksworth Academy. All the children and staff speak so often about memories of the assemblies he led - lots of fun with laughter and smiles. For me, a true gentleman with such a caring nature. I always remember the kind words he offered me when I first joined the academy as HT and he continued to support me during the years which followed. Sending love and strength to Diane and family x
