In loving memory of Alan Bernard Collins who sadly lost his brave and courageous fight with lung cancer on 28th March 2022

Alan was one of 6 siblings 3 sisters and 2 brothers, He was born in London on the 19th October 1952, he moved to Kent and spent his childhood in five oak green. His home life and school life was unsettled so he went on to join the training ship The Arethusa at 14, which he loved and was taught discipline, tidiness and tailoring his invisible stitching went on to become very useful.

He had 2 failed marriages but finally found his soul mate Pam and they married on the 3rd July 1993, He never looked back and they were truly happy, they had 4 children between them and 5 beautiful grandchildren that he adored, he was a very hard working man and did whatever he could for his family.

He fought very hard to stay with us but spent his last week of life at the cottage hospice in five ashes with his family by his side, wife Pam daughters Nicole and Kelly and son Kelvin and a constant stream of visitors.

He loved T.Rex, The Sweet, U2, Status Quo, Suzie Quatro and lots more.

He will be so missed we cannot imagine life without him, he was the greatest husband, dad, grandad, brother and uncle we couldn’t ask for anymore
He had the most beautiful smile and twinkle in his eye.

I have one memory that just come straight to my mind more than any other. I was a beautiful day in summer the best part of 20 years ago. The skies were blue, the sun was warm, and the party in the back garden was in full swing. Bbq going, beer flowing and the world being put to rights. Alan and I talked and laughed and got on like a house on fire. It was a perfect afternoon/evening.
