In loving memory of Barrie John Mitchell who sadly passed away on 19th March 2022.

Barrie was a loving husband of Glenys, devoted father to Clare and Andrew and cherished Grandad to his grandchildren Elena, Laura, Oliver and Sophie.

Barrie was an extremely kind and caring man who throughout his life never had a bad word to say about anyone. An endearing trait that certainly defined his character.

He loved watching horse racing and football and never deviated from always supporting Norwich City. His laugh was infectious and would always make his family laugh out loud, a silly sense of humour to many but to his family it was just him.

Barrie certainly won’t be remembered for his culinary skills, his DIY skills or his sense of direction, but he will be remembered as a kind, gentle, soft spoken and loving family man who we will miss dearly. He has given us many fond memories that we as a family will cherish forever.

All my early memories have Uncle Barrie in them. I especially enjoyed our family Christmas’ together playing cards and eating chocs. Good times. A lovely gentleman who will be missed. Rest in Peace Uncle Barrie.

Dad, when writing about you, I don't know where to start. I have such wonderful memories. Childhood memories that I will cherish include playing badminton with myself and Andrew on the lawn in summer, playing crazy golf on holidays and you diving in those choppy sea waves!

As an adult you have always been there and have been a loving, kind and caring Grandad to Elena and Laura. The thing I will miss enormously is your laugh, we both shared a silly sense of humour and I knew just what to say to make you laugh out loud (GT springs to mind).

More than anything, I always felt unconditional love throughout my childhood and adulthood.

I will miss you dearly and you will forever be in my thoughts.
Lots of love Clare, Geoff, Elena and Laura xxxx

We had 52 years of happy marriage sharing the ups and downs of life together, you were always there for me, loving, caring, calm and gentle. Although there was no time to say goodbye I will always cherish the memories we had of our life together.
Life for me will never be the same without you.
Love you always, God Bless

Remembering Barrie with a smile. Always a quiet and gentle soul with a cheeky sense of humour. He will be sorely missed by his family and those who knew him.

An uncomplicated man that didn’t need a lot of life’s trappings to be happy. I will really miss him sitting in his chair and refusing to admit winning or losing on a horse. Think he won a lot more than we know. RIP Brother in law Danny.
