In loving memory of Elaine Ryder who sadly passed away on 3rd March 2022.

Elaine Susan Vogan was born on 23rd February 1966 to her loving parents Sheila and John, joining her big sister Angela to complete their family. They had a happy childhood and as always Mum knew where they were as you could always hear Elaine!

In 1982 Elaine turned 16 and left Carlton-le-Willows School as fast as she possibly could to follow her chosen career as a hairdresser, working at HairScene 2 for twelve years.

In 1996 Elaine started a new job at Boots the Opticians. It was a big step for Elaine as it was very different, but she did it staying for five years. In May 2001 Elaine chose another different career path and joined the HMRC, wanting a job that didn’t mean working weekends, as this got in the way of spending time with Paul and what would become her precious garden.

On 4th July 1998 Elaine met the love of her life, Paul in Langtrys in Nottingham. On 3rd May 2008 Elaine made Paul the Happiest Man alive in becoming Mrs Ryder: his wife.

Elaine always was lively, loud, happy and had many true friends as that was what she was to them. In the twenty four years of being privileged to have known this exceptional lady I have been so lucky and was given so much happiness and love from Elaine.

Sadly, as you know, 4 years ago Elaine was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma which is a blood cancer. From that day on our lives were changed forever. Elaine though made sure it did not define her and lived for every moment.

Well as you all know being Elaine’s Husband was the best thing that happened to me and although we were together twenty four years, it will be our Fourteenth Wedding Anniversary on 3rd May 2022. Today though as ever we were at out beloved City Ground to see The Mighty Reds win 5-1 in our last home game of the normal season so as I have thanked you all before for your amazing donations for Myeloma UK, I want to add 5-1 pounds to the total.

Love always to my/our WonderWoman ⚽️❤️⚽️❤️⚽️❤️⚽️❤️⚽️

I have lots of special memories of Elaine’s and my time together at “the hairdressers.” I’m so glad to have relived some of those fun memories over lunch a few years ago! Paul, I’m sorry for your loss, but I’m happy you got to be part of Elaine’s life.

Elaine, it really was such a pleasure working with you. So many laughs and entertaining stories! You really brightened up every day. You once told me how beautiful Santorini is, and since then, it has always been a place I've wanted to visit. Thank you Elaine, I feel so privileged to have known you. Alison xxx

Rick first met Elaine in the mid 1980’s and I met her in 1991. From the outset we became firm friends and loved the times we spent together at various social occasions, where Elaine’s laugh and raucous antics always made for a great night. She was a wonderful participant at my (and my sister Net’s) Hen Night in 1995 and 1996. She shared our wedding and the birth of Rory and Jake in 1997 and 1999.
Meeting Paul and seeing how happy Elaine was with Paul, made us happy too. We loved the wedding and despite emigrating to Australia later the same year, we kept in touch especially with Paul as our messenger, sharing stories and photographs as life passed by.
We will always have such fond memories of shared good times with the most beautiful person whose laugh and fun loving approach to life, made us so happy.
You will always be with us Elaine, maybe not physically but in our thoughts, our minds and our memories.
Love you always from your Aussie gang xxxxx
