On Friday 18th March 2022, Freda (Bill) Williams, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 90.
Bill was born on December 21st 1931 in the front room of Toft Hill Cottage, Dunchurch, Warwickshire, to the sound of Dunchurch Silver Band playing ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’. From then on the carol was known in her family as ‘Bill’s carol’. She lived in Toft Hill Cottage until she married Jim Williams at the age of twenty and moved to Rugby.
After raising the family and nursing Jim through the later stages of stomach cancer Bill became actively involved in supporting Cancer Research UK. She worked in the Cancer Research shop in Rugby where she made many friends. She also developed an interest in collecting and selling bric-a-brac at boot fairs and table top sales in and around Rugby.
When she moved to Nottingham in December 2014 she continued to work at the Cancer Research Shop in Compton Acres. She joined several community groups and particularly enjoyed returning to her love of ballet by joining a class at the Poppy and Pint in West Bridgford. She also loved spending time in the garden and filling her new home with ornaments, pictures and clocks. She was known for her friendly nature and generous spirit.
Bill is survived by her children, Jon, Jackie and Nick, grandchildren Sam, Beccy, Shannon, Kelly, Dylan and Jackie, and great grandchildren Meredith, Isla, Dubhgall and Lachlan.
Bill requested that instead of funeral service there should be a celebration of her life which will be held at 89 Westerfield Way on Sunday 3rd April at 12.00 pm. Friends and family are invited to bring pots of flowering bulbs such as daffodils and crocuses to plant along the bank opposite the house or to make a donation to Cancer Research UK.
