In loving memory of Colin Sanderson who sadly passed away on 18th August 2015
Colin was a loving and devoted husband to Lillian and a wonderful Father to Paul, Steve, Christine, Mathew, Yvonne and Simon. He was admired and loved by all his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who he loved in return with all his heart.
Having done his national service in the Royal Engineers, Colin a keen Steam engine enthusiast became a Fireman (stoker), then later became a steam engine driver for LMS. He shared his passion with his children, grand children and great grandchildren with all his wonderful stories of his train days and frequent visits with the family to Butterley, Loughborough and Ruddington railway and many others.
A kind and gentle man, who always went out of his way to help others will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Colin was my brother, he was the only boy so was rather spoilt. He disagreed us on that, he said we bossed him, well it was 3 girls to one boy. We had lots of fun growing up, fishing, scrumping, hiking and picnicking. I smile when I remember those days. He even taught me how to jitter bug, what a laugh that was.

Our amazing grandad who will be missed so much! Always told us of his tales of the trains and had time for each and everyone of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rest now in peace we as a family will carry on your memories of the trains and of all the memories and special times that we treasured with you xx

When I was small Grandma and Grandad used to look after me sometimes when mum and dad were at work. They used to take me to the park and put me on the swings. Grandad used to push me on the swing and when I swung towards him he would give me a chocolate button. Love you and miss you Grandad x

It was when we went to Ruddington railway, we went around looking at the trains and then went and had a ride on one of the trains with Grandad and he told me all about where we were going and about times that he drove the trains. It was a great day, I miss him.

When Stephen and I used to visit and Stephen knocked on the door dad would come to the door and open it just a little and he would say to Stephen hello son you aint brought her with you have you and i woul go tada hello and he would say oh god hello lovey come in and give me a big hug how are you lovey that always made me laugh . Such a true gentleman .

I will always remember when dad used to go away on trips driving for skills he would always bring a toy back with him also we would at times go with him to different places as well.

Always a cheerful smile and welcoming hug, sharing many stories of his train days which we will miss dearly. Always looked up to and idolised by his grandchildren, teaching them funny rhymes and anecdotes. Forever in our hearts xxxx
