I was very deeply saddened to learn of Derek's passing. He was my best friend when we were children on the Benmore estate and remained good friends until, sadly, we lost touch when the family moved to Blackpool. I have fond memories of our times together and also of the Carey family - Derek's mum and dad, the late Ian, Lewis and Hazel. My sincere condolences to Johnny and to his family and friends in Blackpool and Northampton. I will be thinking of Derek very much as the service takes place on Friday 4th. God bless.

Condolences to Derek's family from the Blackpool taxi community.
I had the pleasure of working with Derek on the Blackpool cabs...he always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell (some good, some not so good).
A sad, sad loss
R.I.p big fella
