Edward Eric Barber (3 Aug 1937 - 17 Feb 2022)

When I think of Granddad I think of happy visits to their house, wherever that may have been. As a child it was always exciting to make the long journey from Yorkshire to see my grandparents down south. Cornwall was a particular favourite for obvious reasons. But the wonderful smell of the well-loved garden, shiny Christmasses with retro decorations and tree chocolates. And of course the two best things that Granddad made - trifle with custard thick enough to slice, and home made crinkle-cut chips. Although seemingly random, these are just a few happy memories that will stay part of me forever and ones I cherish. I'm so glad that Granddad got to enjoy his great-grandson Storm for 4 years, how lucky we were to be a family 4 generations strong for that time! I shall tell Storm stories about your adventures around the world for many years to come. All our love, Laura Tom and Storm.

As a 16yr old school boy I was standing in the corridor of a train to London from Grantham. The train stopped at Peterborough and a lone schoolboy got on and stood close by. We soon got talking and found out we were going to the same place on the same mission. An interview for the Royal Navy!
Since then our paths have crossed many times and we have always kept in touch.
I was so sad to hear the news about Ted and we had planned to go to the next OA’s reunion in April.
My heartfelt sympathies go to all Ted’s family and Know he will be sorely missed.
