In loving memory of Robert Stanislaw Slivinski who sadly passed away on 8th February 2022

Robert was born in Nottingham on 23rd February 1954 to Dorothy and Stanislaw (Stan) Slivinski. He was one of three siblings: brother to Steven and half-brother to Nicholas.

He attended Saint Josephs on Derby Road and Corpus Christi Roman Catholic School in Wilford. At 16, he gained an Apprenticeship at GPO Post Office Telephones, and quickly progressed through the ranks to Senior Telecoms Technical Officer.

He purchased his first home in 1975, at the age of 21, in Connelly Close, Arnold. He remained there until earlier this year, where he sadly passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly, in his sleep on 8th February 2022. It was just a few weeks before his 68th Birthday.

Even though Robert never married, remaining a bachelor throughout his life, he did have several long-term relationships, including Deirdre, Jennifer, Wendy, Emma and Marie.
Robert was able to take early retirement at the age of 44, and he seized the opportunity to grow his own business and follow his passion as a Light and Sound Engineer. Through this, he made many friends working across the country at events from as near as The Goose Fair in Nottingham, and as far as Fantasy Island in Ingoldmells and the annual Christmas fair in Hyde Park, London. He was also sought after by local rock bands for their gigs.
Being self-employed, Robert was able to follow his passion of boating, starting off with his first dinghy at Beeston Canal, and eventually progressing to motor cruisers, mooring at Redhill Marina. He also had a passion for problem solving: almost everything he owned he took apart just to put back together again-! He loved his many vans and thus the family have chose the hearse van as a tribute.

For many years Robert also cared for his mother Dorothy, providing everything she needed, and spending time with her during her final years. They both loved their day trips to Skegness for fish & chips. He was planning to renovate an old caravan to set up a pitch there, but never had the chance to complete this. He also loved a good curry from Sherwood.

He dearly loved his pets- his cat Mog Mog and his budgie, both now have new loving homes.

He will be sorely missed by all his friends, Brothers Steven and Nicholas, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews and Niece (Matthew, James & Lucy).

Please don't bother with flowers as Robert was not a flower person. Steven will be going to Aldi to grab a bunch on the way to the crem so he cannot moan about the price of flowers.

Dear Rob,

Unfortunately I can’t make the funeral as I’m looking after my dad as he is ill at the moment.

I’ll never forget our djing together and our work at the radio station.
You helped me build my first PC, it took bloody ages but we got there eventually.
Such a kind man and you would do anything for anyone.
Will also remember our breakfasts at the 7 mile pub and in Mansfield.
RIP Rob x

Well, 3 weeks on and what can I say about my brother Robert, ...he was always there from the age of 5..and now he's gone. Suddenly. Didn't see much of him this last year, but I knew he was there, so that was alright then. On his last birthday in 2021 I promised him an egg chips and beans lunch, which I now will sadly never get to fulfill...
Reading all the lovely comments and memories on here, he was all of the above, and more. He went out of his way for everyone and wore his heart on his sleeve. There's only one place people like my brother can go after life on earth, and that's straight to heaven, where there had better be celestial waterways, or else he'll be having words....

Rob and I worked together on and off during events while both working for ‘The Mellors Group’. Became good friends after we both left, even having boat projects in the same marina.
So many memories, from Rob’s trademark outfit of a t-shirt, shorts, and deck shoes, trips over to skeg, and the many phone calls where Rob would tell me he’s bidding on yet another pair of speakers, lights, or outboard motor (to add to the hundreds he must’ve already owned!)

Rest in Peace buddy
