We would like to thank family and friends for making Stan's funeral a very special day for him, and also for the very generous donations for Macmillan Cancer Support. I am very proud to tell you that we have raised over £1,200 for them. All the staff and volunteers at the Nightingale Macmillan Ward, Derby, were so kind to Stan and myself in our hour of need.
Special thanks to Snowy for coming to the Curzon Club after the funeral and playing Stan's favourite tunes for us all. Stan would have loved that.
I would also like to say a massive thanks to the Angry Pirates Scooter Club, that Stan used to ride with. Especially Wayne and Neil for organising the ride out to Aston on Trent, and stopping the traffic on the way so it all ran smoothly.
The line up of scooters opposite our house waiting for the funeral cars to arrive was an amazing sight and bought a tear to the eye. Also Stan's old scooters were there too. My Stanley would have been made up.
The ride out was a wonderful tribute to my lovely husband Stan. One that my family will treasure and remember always. Thank you Pirates, it meant so much and made our day.

With great sadness we announce the loss of Stephen “Stan” Andrews, who passed away peacefully on 12 February 2022 at Royal Derby Hospital.
Stan was the much loved husband of Pat, father of Michelle and Leanne, father-in-law of Paul and Tom, and granddad of Milly and Eleanor.
We are eternally grateful for the cancer care he received at the Nightingale Macmillan Unit, Royal Derby Hospital. Their kindness and compassion bought great comfort to us all at such a difficult time.
Stan will be remembered as a family man who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved his holidays in the sun with Pat and dear friends Steve and Pat. He was a proud dad and even prouder grandad. He was mad about music: especially soul, northern and ska. He loved spending time with his friends and revisiting his younger days riding out on his scooter.
We will all miss him terribly, but he is forever in our hearts and our memories.
We invite all of Stan’s friends and loved ones to join us for a service to celebrate his life at 12.30 on Tuesday 1st March, at Trent Valley Crematorium.
It would mean so much to give Stan a very special send off, so if any of his scooter friends can spare the time to ride out with Stan one more time, following his car to Trent Valley Crematorium, please contact Steve McGhee or Pat McGhee through Facebook.
There will be a get together in the afternoon following the service at The Curzon Club, Long Eaton - from 2pm onwards. All are welcome to come and raise a glass to Stan, enjoy some of his favourite tunes, and remember good times.
Whether you can make the service or not it would be lovely to see you at The Curzon Club. But please can we ask that you message us to confirm attendance (here or through Facebook) so we know how many people will join us.
Stan wasn’t one for fuss so no flowers please. If you would like to pay a tribute we ask instead for a donation to Macmillan, to help them continue to provide much needed support to others going through tough times.
We hope to see as many of you as possible on 1st March, to share golden memories and celebrate Stan’s life.
Pat and family
