I knew Ian during his time as a pupil at Bemrose. He was a year ahead of me. I recall him as someone capable of livening up any event, such was his effervescence. And there was that wonderful laugh too. Such good company. Luckily, there is no way that he is going to be forgotten by those who knew him in those pupil days, and in his teaching days at Bemrose. In the most recent book to be published about Bemrose School during its days as a grammar school, one contributor writes thus of him "A former Bemrose pupil, Ian was animated, enthusiastic, erudite, a touch zany, and lively enough to make us forget the grotty room. With Ian we always had fun, liked him, and learned a good deal." Good fun to be with. That is how I will most recall him, and with fondness.

Ian was a lovely, kind man, a brilliant teacher and actor. I worked with him at school and saw many of the plays he was in.
