William ‘Bill’ Dyer, 65, passed away at home in Southend-on-Sea on 4th January 2022, after a brave and courageous battle with Cancer.

Bill was a Brother to Shirley and John, Uncle to Gary and Emma, Partner to Anne and a dear friend to so many.

Bill was born in Walthamstow, North East London to his loving parents Fred and Ivy. He attended Chapel End Primary School and Sir George Monoux College. After completing school Bill spent a lot of his working career in banking in both the City of London and in Sheffield. He then changed his career and become a courier for a number of years, he also worked at Coral’s Bookmakers and ended his career with an accident management company.

Bill was a keen West Ham United fan and adored classic cars. Many will remember him talking of his beloved Lotus sports car. Bill was also a keen traveller and was never happier then when he was on holiday.

Bill will be forever loved and missed by all that knew him. As Bill’s family we would like to thank his friends and partner for all the dedicated care they provided Bill throughout his illness. For this we will always be grateful.

We are inviting you to pay your respects to Bill at his celebration of life. This will take place on Wednesday 9th February 2022. Southend Crematorium (West Chapel) at 10am. The wake will proceed directly after at The Saxon King Pub, Southend-on-Sea for some light refreshments. If you intend on coming to the wake please inform Bills Niece Emma on 07523007695 so we have an idea of numbers for refreshments.

The funeral will have a West Ham United theme and we welcome people to wear something claret and blue if they so wish.

Please send any floral tributes to our funeral director who is Stibborns and Sons, Westcliffe. Alternatively you can donate to The Royal British Legion through the Just Giving page attached.

If you are unable to attend in person there will be a live web cast of the funeral service and this can also be viewed up to 28 days after. Please contact Bills Niece Emma on 07523007695 if you require this link.

Bills family will be in Southend on Sea the evening before the funeral on Tuesday 8th February. At 19:00 we will be having a meal at The Saxon King. We would like to meet as many people as possible who were a part of Bills life in Southend and would welcome you to join us. If you would like to please contact Emma on 07523007695.

Finally please leave a message on this page of any memories you have of Bill. We very much look forward to seeing you soon to celebrate Bills wonderful life.

Xxxxxx

Very fond memories of Bill as I began working with him in the City in the early 1980's. During our liquid lunches he was charming, full of good stories and humour and he instilled confidence and encouragement in those around him. May he rest in peace x

💓Uncle Bill, where do I start? Thank you for all the great memories! The most memorable are of my childhood half terms spent in Chingford visiting my London family. Going to Walthamstow Dogs, Peter Pans Playground, staying at your place in Southend while getting paid £5 to paint your 14 garden gnomes (now I know I was seen off!) and you driving us around ‘In your tin can on wheels… your Lotus classic cars!’.
💙When I used to struggle with my Maths, you would sit me down and explain it and helped me pass my GCSE. I have found the calculator we would use while sorting out your flat and I was so excited it’s still working 14 years on! It will take pride of place in the study of our new home. Your help I will always be thankful for as I wouldn’t have the career I do today without it.
🤍You were present when I celebrated passing my degree and you were super proud of me when I finished my first shift as a RN. When me and Mum were recently approved for our mortgage you could hear how happy you were when we told you. You were always on the end of the phone during the most difficult times also.
🧸For all this thank you!
⚽️Continue ‘Forever blowing bubbles’ as you Hammers like to chant. I will miss you giving me all the stick for travelling miles to follow Plymouth Argyle and not knowing what ‘decent football is’.
👼Now it’s your time to rest after your brave and stoic battle with Cancer. Fly high with Nan, Grandad and Great Uncle Bill. Until we meet again one day, we love you and may you rest in eternal peace.
💙💙XxxX💙💙
