In loving memory of Alexander Charles Gemmell (Alec) who sadly passed away at home on 24th January 2022.

The beloved husband of Elaine, father to Clare, Alison, James, Sally, father-in-law to their spouses, grandfather to Katherine, Daniel, Dominic, Pippa, Ben, Michael, Robert, Rebecca, Scott, Luke and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Alec's funeral is at 12 noon on Friday 4th February 2022 at St. Mary's Church, Hook-with-Warsash.

In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to The British Heart Foundation if you so wish.

As most of you know, Alec was born with 4 defects in his heart known as a Fallot's Tetralogy. It is rare for anyone born with this condition to survive beyond the age of 40. We are all so grateful for the research that this charity has done during his lifetime and for the care and expertise given at The Middlesex Hospital to allow him to live a wonderful, full and happy life until the age of 84.

From my teens when we were both members of the lake gang until recent years when we met at our annual reunion, I always enjoyed Alex's company. I greatly admired the way he bore his physical problems in later life.

Alec and I were playmates when very young and it was great to meet him again some 65 years later. Despite his condition he remained positive and cheerful. He has won his fight- rest in peace Alec.

Although we only shared a dinner table on a cruise with Alec and Elaine, every night the group on our table was the noisiest and happiest there. Especially with the waiters fighting to park Alec's mobility scooter. We often reminisce about those good times.

Rest in peace, Alec

Mike and Maureen
