In loving memory of Brian Taylor who sadly passed away at home in Chelmondiston on 21st December 2021 aged 79 years. Expert computer programmer with several top companies. In retirement learnt New Testament Greek and studied the classics. Three daughters Lara, Ruth and Julie.

Brian was blessed with a skill and passion to study,read and speak foreign languages. These embraced Latin-Greek Italian and French.When in Sunday church it was announced the Bible reading for the service, i would look over to were Brian was sitting in the pews and find him reading from the original Greek version.
His passion for the country of Italy was very evident and was a very patience and gifted tutor when at our weekly Italian classes. Sitting in our armchairs opposite each other as the cd tutorial was switched on and off until such time Brian was satisfied with my pronunciation of Italian.
I know that Brian even recently still had a desire to spend time in that country,this time as a teacher in his own language of English.

Hi Roger, You have insights to my father that I never did. I thank you for these words, they are quite precious. I knew he loved Ancient Greek, but wasn’t aware of his breadth of his talents in languages or his ability to speak them. I got to know Brian over a number of years as I visited his home. He would always remind me of his Christian commitment which began under the guidance of a senior officer in the Royal Navy in which Brian served. Because of his late blossoming expertise in Classical languages, he offered to help me improve my Latin, and we read a number a texts together. Brian's great love was books including ones on Italy,a country which greatly interested him and which he visited a number of times. He attended the services of the village Methodist Church while he was still able, and supported the local Messy Church group for children and their parents. I shall miss his friendship and fellowship, and thank God for them and for him.

Dear Michael, I hope we can chat sometime soon, since you know my father well, and I would love to know more of your friendship with him. Thank you for your kind words, and for giving me a little more insight into this man who was my father, whom I loved but didn’t really know.
