In loving memory of Tony Rosser who passed away on 3rd January, 2022 at the age of 84. Tony will be greatly missed by his partner Lorraine, his children Tina and Anthony, his granddaughter Helen, great grandson Luke and his brother Paul and family. He will also be very much missed by his numerous friends and acquaintances.
Tony was born and grew up in Highbury, north London. He was passionate about football and was a lifelong supporter of Arsenal football club. Tony was in London during the Blitz and was evacuated to the countryside only to come back to north London with his mother when they became too home sick, despite the risk. He spent his National Service in the Royal Medical Corps and then most of his working life in the wholesale side of Fleet Street. Tony enjoyed taking holidays abroad with Lorraine, especially when it involved relaxing on a beach and enjoying a fine meal afterwards. He also enjoyed his retirement back in Rotherhithe with Lorraine and their two dogs, Goo and Daisy.
Tony had a wide taste in music ranging from jazz and classical to Irish folk and country. He also loved films with favourites ranging from European cinema to Hollywood classics. He was widely read being particularly passionate about poetry and military history.
He was a lifelong fan of military aviation, reserving a special place for the members of both the RAF and the USAAF for their role in defending Britain and liberating Europe during the Second World War.
We would like to thank all those who have taken the time to pay their respects and attend the service as well as those who have not been able to do so but who have let us know that Tony will be very much missed by them. The passing of Tony has left a terrible sense of loss to his partner, immediate family and all those who knew and loved him.
Rather than buying flowers for the service, we would ask for contributions to Demelza Hospice Care for Children. This charity provides specialist care and support for seriously ill children and young people and their families in south east London and Kent.
Many thanks,
Lorraine, Tina, Tony and Helen xxx
