In loving memory of Kenneth Gordon Barrie " Ken " Uings who sadly passed away on 6th January 2022.
Born in Swanscombe, Kent in 1933, Ken spent most of his early life living in or near Swanscombe except for his period of Army Service with the 3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards, until moving to Benfleet Essex in 1983.
During his colour service he saw active service in Aden during the Suez crisis. It was on his return that he suffered a fractured spine and was invalided out of the Army in 1954.
It is testament therefore to his spirit and strength of character that he ran his own business as a roofing contractor trading as "Kenuu Roofing" for many years. He was definitely someone who, if he wanted to do something he did it.
Ken was a keen pigeon fancier and raced his pigeons until two years ago. He spent many happy hours sat in his chair watching the loft for returning racers.
He is survived by Wendy , his wife and his son Simon and their families who invite you to join them following the funeral service at Cromwell Manor, Pitsea Hall Lane, Pitsea, Essex SS16 4UH.
In accordance with Ken's wishes only family flowers but should you wish, you can make a donation in his memory to two charities close to Ken's heart.
