In loving memory of Noreen Maynard who sadly passed away on 24th December 2021

Noreen's heart has always been to care for everyone she's had contact with - both people and animals! From her early days when she trained as a nurse to help fulfill her desire to be a missionary, through to recent years that included helping refugees in Lesbos, her life has been a story of kindness and standing with those who needed help.

As children, we grew up in a house where is was quite common to find someone unexpected sleeping in the living room as mum (and dad) often took in those that society had rejected. Over the years, mum was constantly on a journey to better understand herself and the world, and always looking for ways to help others and make a difference. This is the passion that drove her right to the very end.

Noreen touched many lives, often without fully realising the impact she had! I still remember clearly meeting an old acquaintance of mum's who recalled, with much gratitude, how mum had sat with her and her husband as he passed away. The selfless act of kindness had made a deep impression, but when I mentioned it to mum, she could hardly remember. For her, it's just what she did.

Many people reading this will have their own stories of how Noreen impacted their lives. If you feel able, it'd be amazing if you could share them here.

Noreen's funeral will be held at Mansfield Crematorium at 14:00, Friday 21 January 2022. There will be a live webcast available to help as many as possible be part of the celebration

I offer my sincere condolences to the family following the sad loss of Noreen.
I have just watched the lovely touching, emotional service, which appropriately celebrated and reflected on the very full life Noreen had led.
I appreciated the touching poem written by Derek, plus poignant words from Susan and Andrew.
Noreen's zest for life, plus her many talents and gifts were always generously shared wherever and whenever there were needs.
Early in 1962 when we commenced our nurse training at PRI, I can remember Noreen enthusiastically playing her concertina and singing hymns early in the morning! Occasionally she would sing whilst playing her banjo. I am not surprised that drums and flute were also enjoyed. I'm sure there will be music in heaven!
Rest in peace Noreen. I pray that God will bless the family at this difficult and sad time.
Love from Jean XXX
