In loving memory of Kevin William Rodgers
Following a short and courageous battle with cancer, Kevin sadly died on 29th December 2021 and a little light went out forever for those who knew and loved him the most.
Born in 1960 Kevin lived and grew up in Ashford, Kent.
Kevin lived with his parents as an only child until aged almost 11 when his baby sister, Katrina was born in 1971 and the small family of three increased to four.
Kevin attended the local schools in Willesborough where he developed his love of music, football and all things sport related.
He was a shy boy but his gentle nature, his broad smile and love of football meant that he always had friends nearby, some of whom have remained friends for life.
After a brief study of carpentry and a dalliance in the Army’s Royal Corps of Transport , Kevin settled into working as a track engineer for the rest of his working life.
He worked for many companies through the years and was proud to have been a ‘Tunnel Tiger’ working on the Channel Tunnel in the 1980s .
Kevin’s last job was at Network Rail where he had already been an employee many years previously.
Kevin became a young Dad to Louise in 1983 after marrying at the end of 1981.
Later, following his second marriage to Julie in 2001 he became Dad to Henry in 2002 and Gracie in 2005.
Without doubt his 3 children are the greatest achievements of his life and it was clear he was never more happy than when he was spending time with them.
More recently Kevin was excited to become a Grandad to twins Thomas and William in 2018.
Essentially, Kevin was a family man who enjoyed simple, humble pleasures like going out for a meal with his family, walking the dog, listening to ‘The Boss’, going to the pub on a Friday with friends and most definitely watching the Beautiful Game with his son.
Kevin will be missed by so many, not least his beloved soul-mate Julie who survives him as they recently celebrated 20 years of marriage and so much happiness together.
He will always be remembered with love and affection as a beloved son, a loving husband, a devoted father, a protective brother, a happy Grandad, a generous uncle, a loyal friend and a hard-working colleague.
Rest in peace Kevin.

Please feel free to add any photos or memories of Kevin, as a family we will always be able to look back on his obituary and reminisce. Thank you
We would just like to add a few comments of why we chose the charities we did.
ELLENOR HOSPICE is local to us and supported us when Kevin was at home. A Consultant from the Hospice visited us on Christmas Eve to make sure Kevin was pain free and ellenor nurses popped in daily with advice and support. They will continue to support us with counselling, when we are ready. The hospice provides expert care to babies, children , adults and families facing life limiting illnesses from the local community.
MACMILLAN nurses supported us in hospital and we have found the helplines very professional and supportive during the darkest moments. They also send information leaflets and are always at the end of a phone. So important when families are faced with the trauma of cancer.
There will also be a collection at the church if anyone wishes to support St John’s who are also such an important part of the community and Kevin chose the church as his resting place. We visited it regularly with Coco our dog and really appreciated visiting through the season’s and the tranquility it offers.
Many thanks for reading. XX
