In loving memory of Billy Smith who sadly passed away on 16th December 2021.

Billy was a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, son, uncle, brother-in-law, father-in-law, friend to so many AND general fixer of pretty much everything we needed :)

Since his diagnosis of lung cancer in June 2019, he kept fighting till the very end and made us all so proud.

He was born in Cardonald on the 11th of April 1949, first born child of Archie and Flora, with Ann, Campbell and Albert to follow.

In his late teenage years he was to meet his soulmate Anne whom he married on the 9th of October 1971. His sons Billy and Craig were then born in 1975 and 1979, respectively.

He entered into his early 50s with no grandchildren yet by the time he retired he had 8: Chiara, Louiza, Amy, Evan, Elena, Ava , Orrin and Mia (Oh, and Bailey, his grand-dog).

Throughout his working life he was many things to many people, and in many places. However, most will know Billy as an incredible electrician who took pride in making sure our lights switched on and the cables were hidden.

In his social life many will remember Billy as someone who was partial to one or two (or three or four) vodka/coke and the odd pint of Tennents.

For many years he frequented the Fairfield Working Mens Club, Govan on a Wednesday night playing darts with his brother-in-law and dear friend, Michael. Whilst they were very good friends, they rarely saw eye to eye in terms of who was the best football team in Glasgow ;)

However, undoubtedly Billy's favourite place on earth was Cabo Roig, Spain. He enjoyed his holidays there for over 10 years with Anne, and met so many friends along the way. Quite how Balti Towers is going to cope without his custom, no one knows.

In his later years he loved nothing more than spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren. Into his late 50s he found his sport, golf. His enjoyment of this sport (as shown in his picture above) would see him play golf in many Scottish and European courses. He simply loved his annual tours with "The Holing Out" crew.

Anne, Billy, Craig, his daughters-in-law and all of his grandchildren are of course sad at this time. Although it’s currently tough, we know Billy would have wanted a celebration of his life.

We therefore hope that you'll use this platform to post your messages and memories of a man who's life has touched so many.

Thanks,

The Smith Clan :)
