Our nan was a beautiful person inside and out, she was always quiet but when needed, she always knew when to say the right thing. She loved to spend time with her family and was always up for a laugh. Nan spent many hours sitting watching as the craziness of our family unfolded, chuckling to herself and sometimes tutting. She was the "Prim and Proper" of all of us combined!
Everyone spoke so highly of our nan, everyone loved to see and spend time with her amongst her friends. She loved to go out, trying new things and tasting new foods! She lived life to the fullest, even to the very end where we had her eating stupidly large plates of food and lots of ice cream, a favourite of hers. Holding crazy critters, snakes, frogs and skinny pigs, then a night out bowling with all the family. There just wasn't any stopping her!
Nannies knitting kept all of her great grand children in cardigans and blankets and her talent didn't stop there. She knitted for charities and especially her beloved remembrance day, which was a day we were always reminded of our Granddad.
Nan was such a brave lady, she lost grandad so young but she kept her head held high and never let it get her down. She stayed at Gravesend road, pottering in her ginormous garden till her hearts content and even when she moved to High Halstow she always loved her flowers and her birds. There was always a cheeky tit bit for her "Blackie".
Nan worked for Demelza House for many years.... she made some amazing friends and probably bought more than she sold! We hope to raise some money for this charity in memory of our nan, mum, our Mary Travers.
Nan may have not been a lady of many words but the words she did say to us will stay in our hearts forever! She will be throughly missed by all her family and friends and we hope she is with grandad watching down on us.
