In loving memory of Ben Stables who sadly passed away on 27th November 2021. The dearly loved son of Emma and Keith, dear grandson of Jenny and Brian, Roy, Dorothy and the late George, also, the much loved nephew of Rachel and Trevor, Sarah and Paul, Rae, Ralph and Sue, Mandy and Stephen, Stella and Nigel, Annette and Patrick, Mark, the late Shaun and a treasured cousin. Loved godson of Mark and Jackie.
Ben was studying psychology at St John’s University in York when he became unwell with pneumonia and died from complications, in York hospital. Even though Ben had a long term medical condition he never complained and lived his life as he wanted to. He loved studying, helping other students, volunteering in a local pharmacy and spending time with his parents. In the past Ben volunteered at Cavy Corner Guinea Pig Sanctuary and Mencap in Doncaster. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Please could you wear colourful clothes to Ben’s funeral. We are celebrating his 22 years of living!

When I think of Ben, I think of his big kind eyes and his sweet giggle. He was such a loving person and my memories of him are filled with times on Cornish beaches and laughing in the caravan watching movies with Gabby and Joe, wrapped in blankets, eating sweets and drinking tea. When I saw him as an adult a few years ago, I remember thinking what a lovely man he’d grown up to be. I’m proud to have known him. So much love to you all x

From the day we met Ben, we were amazed and inspired by his passion, tenacity, curiosity, and love for everyone around him. Ben was interested in pursuing a career in medicine, focusing on gastroenterology, and was always ready to learn. Thank you Ben ❤️

Just reading the many messages from people that have been lucky to meet Ben in his 22 years is testament to the amazing young man he was. I was lucky enough to teach Ben for three years and couldn't have asked for a more hard-working conscientious student. Never once did he moan or give up when many others would; Ben's attitude to life was a testament to both his character and his family and he will be missed by all who were lucky enough to teach or meet him at Hayfield. Rest in peace Ben

  • Thank you Mr Parry (sorry I can hear Ben calling you Mr Parry). He loved his time at Hayfield school. Yourself and the other teachers made a big impact on him enjoying school, having a good work ethic and getting on with life. When he went in to hospital he was still focused on learning and said ‘Mum I just want to finish my course’. Little did we know what was to happen.

Ben, these are the hardest words I have ever had to write and I am so sorry it has taken me so long. From the moment we met you “Baby Ben” you have been extremely special to us as our “adopted nephew 😊”. You have always been a fighter with whatever life threw at you - truly inspirational. Growing into such a confident, caring, brave and independent young man it has been a pleasure watching you grow up. Unbelievable that we now have to say goodbye - Rest in peace Ben, lots and lots of love Helen and Dave xxxx
