In loving memory of Audrey Jean Breething who sadly and suddenly passed away on 20th October 2021 following a stroke. She was aged 87.
Jean was the much loved Mother of 'the twins' (Richard & Graham), of Roger and of Pippa and Step-Mother to Sarah and Teresa and beloved sister to Rosemary. She had 16 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and 10 great-grand and step-great-grandchildren. Her lovely smile and keenness to serve others made her many friends over the years and she will be much missed.
She grew up in Ealing, elder daughter of Lawrie and Audrey Kelynack, and ,as did many of her generation, suffered the anxieties of the war years, including all the unsettling implications of evacuation, but she came through those years safe and smiling and in 1956 married Roy Styles with whom she settled in Sevenoaks and had their four children. In the 1960s she enjoyed amateur dramatics performing in plays with the Holmesdale Players and went on also to be a regular figure at Holmesdale Cricket Club, both as a keen supporter and in helping with many a cricket tea. In 1976 she re-married, enjoying over 40 years of happy marriage to John Breething, continuing their mutual love of Holmesdale, enjoying well-earned holidays in the Spanish sun in retirement and running a very successful tea & gift shop on the green at Westerham. She always took such loving care over presentation of teas, wrapping presents, remembering to send birthday cards and in many other things and this all reflected her love for others. Whilst dementia slowly robbed her of much in her final years, it never robbed her of her smile and the warmth of her love of family, of friends and.... dogs!
Rest in Peace.
A Service of Thanksgiving in memory of Jean will be held on Friday 26 November 2021 at 2.45pm at St.Botolph's Church, Chevening TN14 6HG, to which friends of Jean are cordially invited, and afterwards at Holmesdale Cricket Club, TN13 2AP.
