I had the pleasure of working with Jocelyn when I was a Ward Sister in the mid 1970’s at Saxondale Hospital, and again at the QMC. She was a very kind and compassionate Doctor to all her patients. She later became part of our extended family when our son Jason married her daughter Sue. RIP Dr Rose.

In loving memory of Jocelyn Margaret Rose who sadly passed away on 9th November 2021.
Jocelyn was born in Pinner, Middlesex in 1936 to Kathleen and John Anderson and has a younger brother, Norman who is living in Australia.
During the second world war she was evacuated to The Wirral and lived in Meols.
As a teenager she was raised in Hincaster near Kendal, Westmorland, now Cumbria. Jocelyn attended West Kirkby Grammar School and Kendal High School before moving to Sheffield to study medicine in 1955.
She specialised as an Anaesthetist and moved to Nottingham. She met her husband, Alan Rose at the Methodist Church at the Albert Hall in Nottingham and was married in 1965.
She set up home in Wollaton and had 5 children, the fifth was born live on BBC Radio Nottingham, the first known live broadcast of a birth in the world.
Jocelyn was widowed in 1986 whilst all 5 children were still teenagers. Three years later she lost a leg due to an horrific work place accident. She carried on working for around six more years at various hospitals in and around Nottingham as well as working for the National Blood Transfusion Service throughout the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.
Retirement didn't slow Jocelyn down. She gained a Master's Degree at 70 years of age, was a member of Mensa, edited the 5 Churches Link magazine, was a member of three choirs, joined a computer club, was part of the Stewarding team at Grangewood Methodist Church and was active with the Arts and Crafts group there too.
When Jocelyn's health and mobility needs became too much for her to stay at home she moved to Church Farm Nursing Home in West Bridgford where she celebrated her 85th birthday.
After four short months Jocelyn passed away. She is survived by her 5 children Jane, Christopher, Michael, Peter and Susan and six Grandchildren.
