It was with great sadness to hear of Richard’s passing.

I remember meeting him for the first time at his school in 1984, when I visited the UK with my mother.

Peter, his uncle, only met Richard for the first time when Richard visited South Africa for the first time in 2006.

We never saw Richard without a smile on his face, always happy.

It was an honour to be his aunt.

Rest Peacefully dearest Richard and fly with the angels 🙏🏻

Our dearest and most precious cousin Richard, our hearts were shattered hearing the news of your untimely passing.

You were the most beautiful soul, you lit up the room and you brought laughter and vibrance to all that you touched.

We are forever grateful that we got to call you family and spent some good times together here in South Africa.

You now have your angel wings and know that in this next souls journey, you get to spend it whole and free, soaring with the some of the most beautiful beings who have gone before, knowing that you could not have been more loved by those you have left behind.

We will love and miss you terribly, until we all meet up again.

“To live in hearts we leave behind, is not to die”.

Fiona, Nathan and Robin

Remembering Richard and his love for travel and adventure pursuits, his talent as an artist and his interest in animation and creativity. Remembering the two of us standing on a fishing dock in Fish Hoek, Cape Town and getting soaking wet from a huge wave that swept over the dock, and the time on Safari when they gave you the best seat up front with the driver, looking for cheetahs on a muddy trail, and Richard getting covered in mud. The sky diving and the racing car adventure racing with a pro around the track. Remembering how he enjoyed a good steak, and how one of my sisters would make sure it was the best, for Richard to enjoy. Remembering all those appreciating grins after all the adventures.
Peace be with you Richard.
Sheila Smith.
