In loving memory of Hazel Clotilda Blackman who sadly passed away on 2nd October 2021 at 76 years of age. Hazel resided in the Chadwell Heath area for many years, formerly Forest Gate and her childhood years in St Michaels Barbados.

She was the daughter for the late Doreen Howell and Seymour Johnson, the former wife of Grantley Charlise Farnum (deceased) and Erwin Carl Blackman.

Loving mother of Cheryl Farnum (deceased), Deborah Branch (nee Farnum) and Nicholas Blackman.

Cherished grandmother of Lauryn Branch.

Surrogate grandmother of Harvey Nichols Branch

Sister of Rodney, Lester, Lynette, Cladec, Shurland, Arlan, Junie Johnson and the late Coraline Edwards (nee Gaskin) who passed away May this year.

Aunt of Ava Edwards, Mark, Deborah and Linda Johnson, Olivia and Donna Johnson, Mervin Jnr and Rohan Bourne, Christopher, Danae and Curtis Walcott the late Randy Johnson.

Extended family of Colvin Edwards (UK), Toni Skeete (Canada) , Delores Forde, Marva , Kentley, Harriett, Apphia, Nadia, Robert and family. Gloria Howell and family (Barbados). Pauline and Charlie Hendrickson and family (St Vincent/Canada/UK).

Dearest friend of Valerie Clements (USA), Pat Keith, Barbara Denham, Hople Thane, Sybil Lewis, Jackie Burton, Ghislaine Flemming, Elson Hunte, Thora Barker (Barbados),

I can confidently share that those who knew our mum (Hazel)are likely to echo similar view of her being a highly intelligent, fiercely independent woman, with a strong sense of loyalty, a stalwart to her family and friends. As a parent, she was one in a trillion she was a lioness and brave heart, willing to walk through fire for her children and granddaughter, without hesitation, our biggest cheerleader for our successes and our protection blanket and soft landing for the more challenging occasions. She will be a great loss to many, a huge void will be forever carved out in our hearts not having mum here with us.

It is with deep sorrow to share that Hazel's eldest child, Cheryl Rosemary Farnum passed away 2 days earlier on 30th September 2021. To say the least this has been a tragically, heart-breaking and emotionally difficult time for their family and friends. You will find an obituary for Cheryl, it would be appreciated if you could take a moment to light a candle and share a memory or two of your connection with our mum and our sister.

A double funeral is being arranged to celebrate the lives of Hazel and Cheryl as they make their journey together to their eternal resting place. Mum was generally quite a traditional person when it came to things like a funeral, however, Cheryl not so much; the lighter and brighter the colour and surroundings would be her preferred choice. SO, trying to combine the personalities of both Mum and Sis to ensure that both their identities are appreciated and promoted in their homegoing. By special request for those attending the funeral, if you wish to come in mourning colours feel free to, however, equally feel free to and wear the lightest, brightest and vibrant colours you own. It is your choice and simply for you to decide, there is an age old saying “Come as you are” please do as God’s grace is for everyone IJN.

The funeral of the late Hazel Clotilda Blackman and Cheryl Rosemary Farnum leaves Albins & Sons Funeral Directors (Plaistow) on Tuesday 2nd November 2021 for the St Chad’s Church, Eric Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10am for the service, followed by the burial at Forest Park Cemetery . More information can be found on the church venue and cemetery can be found on this obituary, your attendance is most welcomed. Please use the Attendance tab on the obituary to let us know if you are able to attend the funeral on 2nd November 2021 to enable us to have a head count for the church.

We plan to have Live Streaming during the funeral service for those (overseas/long distances) unable to attend in person, once this has been arranged a link will be forwarded on.

Due to unusual circumstances of having to plan for a double funeral, unfortunately, the Funeral Re-Pass (reception) will be restricted numbers and strictly invitation only for family and close friends. Thank you in advance for your understanding at this difficult time.

Should you wish to pay a tribute to Hazel, Cheryl or both by sending flowers for the funeral you are most welcome to send them directly to Albins & Sons Funeral Directors. For your convenience there is a florist in close proximity Abbie Florist 0207 4765576, who should be able to assist.

The world has truly lost two very beautiful souls but we find peace that our separation is not forever but just for now. The heart that has truly LOVED and has been LOVED never forgets!
