Believe me when I say it was an utter shock and has continued to be a horrific nightmare, I feel unable to wake up from in relation to the loss of my vivacious, courageous and beautiful sister; she was always the person to bring the party even to the dullest or lifeless situations. Chez, has an aura that is full of positive energy and sunshine, those bright eyes and that smile and just her love for life could melt the coldest of hearts and bring warmth and joy any to environment. I could go on for weeks to speak about my sis and the admiration and respect I hold for her but will still need to accept that she is no longer here in the physical world and this will take a lifetime to come to terms with. It is not my intention to sadden the hearts of those reading this but Cheryl was a beautiful and sophisticated woman both inside and out, the epitome of a Nubian Queen!! The world has lost one of the it’s brightest lights.
It is with deep sorrow I also share that our mum, our braveheart and lioness Hazel Clotilda Blackman passed away 2 days after Cheryl on 2nd October 2021. Sadly, she never knew of her daughter’s passing and to say the least this has been a tragically, heart-breaking and emotionally time for their family and friends. You will find a separate obituary for Mum (Hazel), it would be appreciated if you could take a moment to light a candle and share a memory or two of your connection with our mum and our sister.
A double funeral is being arranged to celebrate the lives of Hazel and Cheryl as they make their journey together to their eternal resting place. Mum was generally quite a traditional person when it came to things like a funeral, however, Cheryl not so much; the lighter and brighter the colour and surroundings would be her preferred choice. SO, trying to combine the personalities of both Mum and Sis to ensure that both their identities are appreciated and promoted in their homegoing. By special request for those attending the funeral, if you wish to come in mourning colours feel free to, however, equally feel free to and wear the lightest, brightest and vibrant colours you own. It is your choice and simply for you to decide, there is an age old saying “Come as you are” please do as God’s grace is for everyone IJN.
The funeral of the late Hazel Clotilda Blackman and Cheryl Rosemary Farnum leaves Albins & Sons Funeral Directors (Plaistow) on Tuesday 2nd November 2021 for the St Chad’s Church, Eric Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10am for the service, followed by the burial at Forest Park Cemetery. More information can be found on the church venue and cemetery can be found on this obituary; your attendance is most welcomed.
Please use the Attendance tab on the obituary to let us know if you can attend the funeral on 2nd November 2021 to enable us to have a head count for the church.
We plan to have Live Streaming during the funeral service for those (overseas/long distances) unable to attend in person, once this has been arranged a link will be forwarded on.
Due to unusual circumstances of having to plan for a double funeral, it does come with some limitations. Unfortunately, the Funeral Re-Pass (reception) will be restricted numbers and strictly invitation only for family and close friends.
Thank you in advance for your understanding at this difficult time.
Cheryl was part of a community choir Gospel Aimed Touching Everyone (G.A.T.E) which she thoroughly enjoyed, should wish to make a donation to a Charity of Cheryl's choice. Please donate to The ARC Charity number 1165652. Sebert Road, Forest Gate, London, E7 0NH. Thank you.
What a blessing to stand on the planet as a woman. A creative and divine instrument of the infinite intelligence of life. Not only are we divine, but we are also phenomenal. The world has truly lost two very beautiful souls, but we find peace that our separation is not forever but just for now. The heart that has truly LOVED and has been LOVED never forgets!
