In loving memory of Patrick Joseph Brogan (Paddy - PJ) who sadly passed away on 7th October 2021 aged 80 Years. A dearly loved husband of Janet, much loved Dad of John and David and loving Grandad to Reina and Hamish who will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
Dad was full of life and lit up the room as soon as he walked in. 😍 He came over to England as a young man and was very hard working…he would share his stories and everyone would just sit and listen and love his endearing true Irish accent…some just looked and didn’t understand him but that didn’t matter….they just loved his Irish ways!!🥰 🇮🇪🇮🇪 A man who NEVER lost his strong Irish accent and his absolute love of his home country. He lived in England and gave us a great life, he loved mum, me and David to bits….but his heart was always in Ireland. ☘️🇮🇪❤️
He met mum at the tender age of 21, mum was only 16, and they dated for 4 years before tying the knot. Mum says she threw the engagement ring back at him once🤦♂️😂 but knew that her life was destined to be with him.🥰 That is what happened….they were together for nearly 60 years….their 55th Wedding Anniversary is 3 days after his funeral. 😞
They had a great life together… 2 years after being married I came along and 3 years after that David made an appearance. He was an absolutely FANTASTIC Dad. He had a hard life providing for us and worked so so hard…..yet everyone always used to comment on how nicely we were turned out everyday and with great manners. That is what he provided for us. At times we watched him struggle yet he always showered us with his love. ❤️. We had some very hard times growing up yet he sheltered us from so much of it because that is what our Dad did. His family was his world.
He would work hours and hours to be able to pay for our annual 2 week holiday to Ireland. 🇮🇪❤️. We would travel for nearly 24 hours on trains, boats and buses to get there to then be greeted by our special Nana with a massive Irish breakfast or a million sandwiches and copious amount of tea when all we wanted to do was sleep!🤦♂️😳😂 He especially loved these times as he could sit by the fire with his beloved mum smoking 100 Carroll fags each by the fire every day until the early hours….god knows what they talked about!. Even though we all stank like ashtrays for two weeks when we were there we will always treasure these memories seeing him in his really happy place. ❤️ He absolutely loved being with his beloved sisters, brothers and his nieces and nephews and they loved having him with them….everyone just idolised him! I would sit there and think how lucky I was that everyone was idolising our Dad! ❤️ How lucky were we?!
As we both grew and left home he was nothing but supportive to us, he was always there for us. Both of us got the travel bug with me become an Air Steward and David working in Asia…. He was so proud of us both that we were living our lives to the full. He attempted to live back ‘home’ with mum when they retired but it was too overwhelming for them and they couldn’t adjust so they headed back to England. He watched us travel the world yet he was then happy just travelling to his beloved Ireland 🇮🇪 as much as he could…..he was on a permanent holiday! We are surprised he isn’t a Gold Card holder with Ryanair! 😂
We then both met our life long partners Rob, who became my husband and Regie, David’s wife. He treated them both as his own….he literally was their 2nd Dad. He loved them both so so much. Watching his relationship develop with them was wonderful….again he was totally idolised by them both. 🥰 Then David & Regie had Reina & Hamish….Dad worshipped them and they did him… he absolutely loved being a Grandad. 🥰
Over the years me and Robbie took Mum and Dad on holidays at least once a year along with Robbie’s parents Wendy & Nigel….wonderful times with fantastic memories….they were known as the 4 amigos!! 🤦♂️😂 They just all go together…it was wonderful to watch. 🥰
He loved his time with David and his family too….buying Reina her magazine every time he was with them….she loved that. 🥰. Lots of very happy memories made there too.
He was a simple man, no airs and graces…he was as happy as anything in Jacks Cafe with a cup of tea or in a simple homely pub with a pint of Guinness or whiskey and lemonade… then having exactly what mum ordered every time! 🤦♂️😂 ‘What would you like Dad?’…Mum…’I’m having fish and chips’….Dad….’Yeah I’ll have dat!!’ Bless him. Always meat and two veg or fish and chips or a burger….that was Dad!! He always loved his Guinness….. but he said it wasn’t like what they do in Ireland…he was right! A true Irishman! 🇮🇪🇮🇪 Mum and Dad are just two peas in a pod.😞 ❤️🥰
But what he loved the most in life was ……..his fags!! 🤦♂️ He was never happier than when he had a ciggie in his hand!😳🤦♂️😂 No matter where he was he would always find somewhere to have one!! Then it would be followed by a polo mint! The amount of times he got lost when having one and trying to find his way back to places was endless! 🤦♂️ The worst one has to be in Bangkok airport where he went to a little room to have a fag having endured a 12 hour flight without one…..he was ready to pull the seat covers off to light them…and when we went back to get him while we queued at immigration, he was gone! 🤦♂️. He was found half an hour later on the other side of the airport looking completely lost. 😞🤦♂️😂. All he thought about was ‘avin a fag!’ 🤦♂️❤️
We are going to miss you so so much Dad, Paddy, P.J.😞😞😞😞. You have had such a massive influence on all of us and we will make sure your memory lives on forever. ❤️. Be happy now with Nana and your Dad and Sister up there and keep that fire burning bright whilst smoking with Nana with your Guinness or whisky and lemonade by your side.
R.I.P. Dad. An Irish Star ⭐️ 🇮🇪 will always shine bright in the sky and we know you will be looking down and guiding us always. 😞😍💔💔❤️❤️
