In loving memory of Ivy Margaret Kirk who sadly passed away, peacefully on 25th Sept 2021, aged 70 years.

Ivy will be sadly missed by all her loving family and friends. All donations to The Royal Derby Hospital ICU can be given on the day.

Ivy was born on 25th February 1951 to George and Freda Murden

Ivy was the eldest of the Murden children, and with being 6, 10 and 19 years the senior to her siblings, often helped her mother with caring for the others, especially her youngest sister Deborah

Ivy & Deborah were more like mother & daughter than sisters and she looked upon Deborah's daughter Josie as more of a grand-daughter than her niece.

Ivy had 4 sisters, Maureen, Rita, Deborah and Julie. Sadly, Julie (twin sister to Deborah, passed away at just 4 days old).

Ivy married her husband, David Kirk on 22nd September 1975 in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

Their son James was born on 23rd January 1981. He was the "apple of her eye" and she dedicated all her time to being a wonderful caring & supportive mother.

James was born with a heart condition, which wasn't picked up until he was around 6 months old. Ivy spent many months at Groby Road Hospital in Leicester with James whilst he underwent pioneering heart surgery and never left his side.

Ivy was an incredibly hard working woman, who, as well as being a house-wife & mother, also held down several different jobs over the years. Derby Greyhound Stadium, Fairy Steps Shoe Factory, Hunt & Colley's (along side her sister's Maureen & Rita) and finally moving onto Derbyshire County Council where she worked for Social Services until her retirement.

She was an avid football fan in her younger years and was a Season Ticket Holder for Nottingham Forest.

She was a member of Hunt & Colley's darts team along with her sister Rita and won serveral trophies over the years.

Ivy loved all kinds of music, her favourite being Herman's Hermits and was overjoyed when she got to meet their lead singer Peter Noon. In later life, she found a love of Classic Music.

Ivy had many hobbies, however, her greatest loves were her painting, baking, knitting, but more than anything, she loved to be in her garden, growing the most amazing selection of fruit/vegetables/plants and flowers.

As well as being the most loving, caring, kind & thoughtful Mother any child could ask for, Ivy was a very kind a generous lady to all her family and friends.

She was so excited when she found out she was going to be a grandma for the first time. Her grand-daughter Amelia, who she cherished and adored was born in Aug 2018.

Over the years, Ivy & David have helped several family members in their hour of need & taken them in, put a roof over their heads, and set them back on the right tracks in life.

Her great niece Danielle lived with them for over 10 years. They had a very close and special bond and Ivy looked upon her as more of a daughter than niece..

Danielle's son Archie arrived in Oct 2018, who Ivy adored. Sadly, Ivy never got to meet her great great niece Ada May, who was born Sept 2021.

Ivy's family were her world and they meant everything to her. She wasn't interested in the materialistic things in life. She was at her happiest when in the presence of her family and her beloved dog Buddy.
Ivy's passing has left a huge hole in so many people's lives and it will take a very long time for her close family & friends to come to terms with.

Dear Ivy, we were so deeply sorry to hear of your passing 💔
Your were a truly lovely lady with a big heart and smile.
My dad was sharing fond memories of his Thursday nights with you at the Langley Mill working men's club where you used to go and watch bands together. He said one night you were next to him dancing, he turned around to talk to you and you were on the floor after one too many drinks!
So sorry we can't make the funeral but you will all be in our thoughts.
Sending much love.
RIP beautiful lady lots of love deb,Keith and family xxxx

Dear Aunty Ivy,
What can I say, you truely were one in a million. We all love you so much.
It wasn't often that we could come up to visit you and uncle David.. but boy.. when we did, didn't you make up for lost time! Trays of coffee (or David's home made gin!) Pop and cookies for the kids.. hours of banter, laughter and catching up. The girls will forget you giving them free reign into the "epic room" and then telling them off for taking too much stuff!! Lol!!
I for one want to thank you for welcoming me into your family. You have been totally amazing. I know Simon and the kids love you so, so much. And always will forever.
Thankyou for the biggest belly laughs, the biggest hugs and the best advice. You really have "made our night" on so many occasions.
We all love you and will miss you forever.
Yours always
Simon, Ruth, Alex, Megan, Eva and lottie dog.. (she's waiting up there to give you the biggest welcome and sloppy lick!)
Rest in peace beautiful lady xxx

For many years we've shared our lives, one roof we once lived under, sometimes we laughed sometimes we cryed, through winter storms and thunder, the younger years have faded fast we've gone our separate ways, But through all time our friendship last our bond in life remains,As summer brings the happy times the autumn winds will whisper a close friend i'd never find than the one i call my sister. Forever in my heart. Maureen (mo) xx

Ivy was a wonderful lady. Her son, James, is my closest friend, and growing up I spent many hours around their house, so many in fact that Both Ivy and David became as second parents to me.
It never mattered that the house had boxes of paper stacked everywhere because the home was, and I dare say still is, a home that was filled with warmth, love and laughter, The things that truly matter.
In truth, it was the warmth and love that was showed by both Ivy and David that has left a lasting impression on me. Such an impression that it helped me decide that my own home, in far away Texas, was to become a place where children of all ages felt welcome, safe and most of all loved, just as I always did in Ivy's home.
