In loving memory of Marian Kelvin Wilson who sadly passed away on 17th September 2021 at Fair Havens Hospice.

Marian was a loving, caring and devoted Wife, Mum, Sister, Auntie, friend, youth worker, pre-school assistant and baking extraordinaire!

Over 50 years she has worked with 100s of young people though Boys and Girls brigade.

We have so many stories, from Thursday or Friday evenings, summer camps and pranks that were played, to family holidays and gardening or cooking advice. Some of Mums favourite things were cycling along the seafront or simply cycling anywhere with a pretty view. She also attended a weekly art group which she loved and would happily spend hours drawing or painting. Mums other keen interests were her garden and cooking/baking. Given the opportunity Mum could be found gardening all day usually until the light was fading and was been chased to come inside.

Mum was always hosting, caring and at the end of a phone or FaceTime. She would help anyone she could and was well known for baking brownies when anyone looked sad or just leaving them on people’s doorsteps. We will all miss Mum so very much but we take comfort that she is now out of pain and at peace with her Lord. Along with being reunited with our Dad Brian.

The Charities that we have listed were close to Mums heart. She would not want lots of flowers or fuss but she would love it if you were able to make a donation.

A charity extremely close to Mums heart and ours is Fair Havens Hospice. Mum previously worked at Havens Hospice over 30 years ago as the cook and loved working there! However over the last few months mum was supported by fair havens at home and spent her final weeks at fair havens hospice. The care, support and love mum received was exceptional along with our selves too. They thought of everything all the little things, nothing was ever too much. They pampered our Mum, and made sure she was feeling safe and loved in her final days and words cannot express how much that means to us.

Mums second charity the Boys brigade was close to mums heart as she was involved as a leader and supporting Dad in his captaincy for the last 50 years. Some of you reading this would have know her dedication and passion she had for the Boys Brigade and sharing the word of God.

Mums third chosen charity was Macmillan, who supported us over the last few years since mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. In the last year Macmillan have been so helpful to us with support and advice while mum was in hospital. Which was invaluable.

Rest in peace Mum you will be sorely missed by so many!!! But your legacy lives on in the lives of people you helped.

Please add your stories, memories and messages of our Mum, Marian below and photos if you have any we would love to make a memory book with them later on.

Marian was a good friend, when we first arrived in the area. Our children played together and enjoyed picnics in Shoebury Park. She made several cakes for us, including our wedding cake. We have some great memories.

My loving sister would ring on occasions and ask after me and my family. On one occasion we were talking about cakes and I mentioned I could no longer eat cakes because the recipes I had contained egg. Next thing I received a letter with a cake recipe without egg. It was delicious and 30 years on I still make the cake. Jenny has adapted the recipe for sugar free it is delicious. Thank you Marian for all your loving caring ways we will all miss you so much.

Marian was a dear friend. She was extremely kind and nothing was too much trouble for her. She loved working at preschool with the children and we all have fond memories of working with her. She and I also loved painting and we would often chat about her latest picture she was painting and I have several lovely hand painted birthday and Christmas cards from her. She also would make us lovely cakes (including a beautiful Swiss roll for me without dairy as she knew I couldn’t have that) .
She was a very special, extremely giving person and we are thinking of you all at this very sad time. Much love to you all, Allison xx
