The family has asked for no flowers to be sent. However, if you wish to make a gesture in memory of Mary, donations are welcome to our chosen charity Blind Veterans UK (www.blindveterans.org.uk)
In her early life Mary supported this charity in 1936/7 by assisting World War One Blind Veterans with walks along the Sussex coast beside their centre at St Dunstan's. In later years, after Mary was registered Blind herself, she received a great deal of support from the charity. In particular they provided her with visual aids and computer equipment which enabled her to continue writing travel articles. Donations can be made via our Just Giving page on this site or in person at the funeral.
The family would like to thank the Directors and Staff of Wessex Care Ltd who provided support to Mary in her last years at The Kimberly West Care Home, Salisbury.
