This is how Peter's Brentwood School Upper VI and 7th form pupils 1959-60 remember an inspirational history teacher and form master. Ever grateful for his encouragement and guidance as our school days ended.

Very much as I remember Peter. He taught me in Upper Vl Arts and form VII from September 1959 to December 1960 when I left school before entering Pembroke College Cambridge in October 1961. I subsequently reconnected with him in about 2007, following the publication of my book “The Great Stink” in 1999. I visited him in Swanmore and he attended some lectures l gave. Stephen Halliday
