In loving memory of a wonderful, funny, kind and beloved husband and dad, Pete Carr, who sadly passed away on 29th August 2021.

He was so loved by everyone. What you saw was what you got with Pete; there were no 'sides' to him. He had a special gift of making everyone feel at ease and his sense of humour made everyone laugh, including himself, and when he laughed, everyone did.
We will miss him everyday of our lives and although he is no longer physically with us, his spirit and the sheer essence of him is in the air we breathe, the wind in the trees, the things we touch and the love we have for each other. Our hearts are filled with his love and the beautiful memories of him.

Please do share some of your anecdotes, stories and special memories of Pete on this page, we'd love to read them.

A video link for live streaming (signal permitting) and recordings for those who are unable to attend and want to feel involved is available below.

Oh dear what a blow. I met Pete and the rest of the gang in a dingy hotel room in Lahore Pakistan and we all traveled back to Blighty together. Hooked up again in London what a gent, When I moved states side in early eighties we lost touch. Those days are some of my most precious memories, I don't drink any more but this evening I'll raise a glass of port to a great guy, miss ya Pete.

We only really came to know Pete better over recent years. We loved his sense of humour and easy-going nature. We particularly appreciated his jolly company on family walks, and we always had a good old laugh!
He has been taken far too soon; we will miss him.
Love,

  • Thank you my family. Pete held you very dear in his heart and always loved the times spent together, whether walking, having coffee, or at our Christmas gatherings at Raphie's house, these becoming a bit of an institution. It's hard to think of those times to come without Pete. He has left a massive hole in our lives and we are more profoundly sad as each day without him passes. xxxx

We only had the privilege of knowing Pete since moving to the village but it feels like we have always known him. All the time we have spent together involved side splitting laughter and fun. Like many others we miss him so much … and know that the music will have been turned up in heaven.

He always loved spending time with you whether it was for dinner, a quick chat whilst gardening, a haircut or a wave. The pandemic brought us many sacrifices but one of the positives was time spent with you. Xxxxx

In loving memory of an incredible father. I only met Pete a handful of times but what a guy!! He brought sunshine and light into every room and always greeted me with big hugs and kisses. Raphie couldn’t be more a product of her incredible parents and this was evident every time you saw her and Pete together who clearly adored each other. What a pleasure and privilege to have been able to spend time with such an incredible family. It is easy to see where Raphie gets her mischievous energy from! Shocked and saddened not to be able to enjoy Pete’s company again and my thoughts and love are with Raphie and Carol xxx

  • Thank you. He was indeed a rare and very special man. The sheer intensity of love we have felt from friends far and wide, around the world and the incredible support we have been given - hundreds of messages, over a hundred cards, beautiful bouquets of flowers, gifts of food and hampers, a constant stream of friends visiting the house, - it is all a testament to just how much he was loved and how much his laughter and sense of fun impacted on everyone he met. Our lives were enriched and now seem so empty without him. Xxxxx

It's hard to express into words what a massive impact Pete seemed to make to the lives of everyone her met, no matter how short a time they spent with him.

At my very first 'Pete encounter' he just launched straight in and whacked a great big kiss right on the lips! That was just how Pete was! So full of love and fun, and exactly as Carol and Raphie say "what you saw was what you got". I've always felt so supported by both Carol and Pete, they treat me as family. Pete might be gone in body but he will stay in spirit with everyone who met him - and the beautiful human that Raphie is today is a perfect representation of the joy and the love that Pete gave, and is still giving to the world every single day.

He always loved you and thought of you as family and although his light and laughter live on in our hearts, the days of emptiness and stillness are endless. Looking forward to seeing you soon. xxx

I couldn't have put this better, so very true, his laugh was infectious, he made me laugh always, and when him and my dad were together it was insane, I would go home with my stomach aching from laughing, like Laurel and Hardy. When Pete was about you couldn't help but just feel pretty good, you were guaranteed to be smiling. He was a great man, a good friend my lovely stepmom and father Pat and Roy Machin. He always gave me good advice about my chosen life and industry, of which I have kept and has served me well. I will miss this man.

Pete, I made you promise a long time ago, I haven't forgotten and I fully intend to keep it, do not worry.

So long old chap, you're going to be missed terribly, I'm so sorry I can't be there, but I will be there in spirit..... Say hello to dad for me over a nice cold Stella ;-).... goodbye Pete.

Since we moved to Sutton on the Forest the Carr family have been our neighbours and and we have benefited from Pete’s generous friendship, humour and driving instructor skills over the years. It was therefore so sad to hear of his unexpected passing and the shock and sadness that Carol, Raphael and family must feel.

Pete was such a wonderful man and a great friend to us. He worked with Majid for a number of years and they both shared a passion for music; sharing anecdotes from Pete’s days on the road with numerous bands and Majid’s recollections of Woodstock, eventually forming Red River Productions. There was always a story to be told with such humour, that laughter was never far away and I always looked forward to seeing Pete and listening to the banter.

He was especially kind when I had a short illness - his support for myself and Majid was so welcome - that was the man he was, kind, generous, full of humour, positive, an outstanding friend who would always go the extra mile. When the family moved North, escaping London we missed everyone, but managed to reconnect and keep in touch. Speaking to Pete and Carol was if no time had passed at all.

Although Pete is no longer with us, his strength of character and his legacy are timeless.

Pete’s love of his wife, Carol, and his daughter, Raphie was evident whenever he spoke of them, his family was the most important thing to him and it will be this that we hope will sustain them now and in the future. It has been and is, our privilege to know them.

  • Thank you Majid and Angela. He was truly a special man and Raphie and I cannot even try to imagine our lives without him. He and Majid had a very special bond and he never forgot Majid’s kindness to him. They also shared a common sense of humour and Pete would regale us with stories of times spent together. One I always remember him telling was of the amazing food at the Lahore Kebab house (not sure if I remember the name correctly) - he raved about it saying it was the best curry he’d ever eaten! This did slightly p… me off as I am the curry queen!!! I will miss their banter for sure! We have to survive and carry on in the way Pete would expect, with fun, laughter, irreverence and a twinkle in his eyes about life in general. Xxxx

So sad and shocked to hear that Pete had died. He was taken away too soon and it must be heartbreaking to lose him so suddenly when you should have had many more happy years together.

Pete was such a dear, kind soul who had the ability to spread happiness to others and who touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. That’s a special and lovely quality to have. The Chiswick days, when we were young: he was the funniest guy ever, wasn’t he Carol, and he constantly had us in stitches doing his Monty Python impressions, and all the other daft and joyous antics to brighten every day. Always a smile and laughter, and especially, a kind heart - that’s what counts.

I hope and trust that in time you will be able to smile at the many fond and happy memories you shared through your years together. They’ll be a comfort and a blessing in your grief and sorrow. Like you said, yours and Raphie’s hearts are filled with his love and beautiful memories of Pete. That will never change, never go away.

Rest In Peace, Pete. Thanks for letting us know you; we won’t forget you. You brought joy to your beloved Carol and Raphie and to all your family and friends and all who met you over the years. Keep shining your light wherever you are now.

All my love to you, Carol - my dear and oldest friend - and to Raphie. Also deepest condolences from Dave and Romy. XX

  • Thank you dear Trish. You, Pete and I go all the way back and have shared so many good times together. It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that we have to continue life without him. I know saying our final goodbyes tomorrow will be the hardest thing I’ve ever done apart from losing Casper, but then I had Pete by my side. Just have to pray we will see each other again in the next journey, if there is one. Thanks for your love and support. It means so much to me and to Raphie. Xxxxx

Pete was my good friend and fishing pal.We met in the Blackwell Ox some 20 years ago on a Friday night and always had a good laugh and a few beers. The pub may have changed but the tradition continued. We used to go fishing for trout at Leighton Reservoir and Pete always said " Don't look at me when I catch a fish because I will lose it" Hilarious! Because of my age he used to bring me a chair and also carry my fishing gear, its both sad and ironic I am writing this today. I will miss him very much both in the pub and at Leighton Reservoir.

  • Thank you Paul and Elaine. Pete always loved fishing with you at Leighton and I was only recently asking ‘when are you going fishing for trout?’ I know it was on his agenda and you and he had talked about it. He also really enjoyed course fishing on your lake and the many snooker parties and BBQ’s at your house and good laughs at the pub. It is with a very heavy heart that I go forward without him and can’t contemplate what life will be like. I will be trying though and good friends will be a lifeline in the dark months to come. Although Pete supported the local football rivals QPR like in all things he was so positive about my Brentford team last season. We lost the play offs to Fulham but Pete left a bottle of beer all decorated with the red and white ribbons of my team.
The next day he met up with me and commiserated on the loss and said “Cheer up mate, you’ll definitely do it next season, absolute certainty”
Every time I saw him he always reinforced the same message...”they’re doing really well”.....”great footballing side Frank””....with me replying “Pete we haven’t won any of the previous 10 play offs, and we were last in the top league in 1947 but thanks for trying”
He insisted that I remain positive and have faith and promised a nice bottle of wine this time! And why should I have doubted him; we won; I was gobsmacked; and there on my doorstep was Carol and Pete who handed me a lovely bottle of wine complete with a great beaming smiling Peter....”I had every confidence that you would do it so pleased for your lads, it was fully deserved”.
Just typical of Pete. Always positive, always generous , always caring, always supportive of others and a guy who always had a smile on his face.
A role model for us all....we will miss you so much Peter.
“You don’t count as dead until the ripples and waves your life has created cease to move”.......................and we will make sure
that never happens to you.

  • Thank you Frank and Liz. Pete always enjoyed the banter with you about football clubs, you two belonging to rival clubs! He also enjoyed the evenings we spent laughing so much in the pub about stories you told and, of course, he always had a funny anecdote or two up his sleeve. He made me laugh at something everyday, and my days are very dull without that fun. When I fell in love with Pete, his humour was a huge attraction and it got us through some difficult times growing up. Thanks for your kind words about him and also the support and love you have shown Raphie and I. This will be my lifeline and saving grace in the hard times I am facing now. Xxxxx

I first met Pete when we were on our committed journey to becoming world famous rockers ( that didn’t happen 🙄 ), probably around 1971. We were working flexible hours at Maurice Placquet ‘down the Bush’ and while the work could be grueling, Pete never failed to make it fun and more bearable. I’ll never forget chasing around London in Mike Vet 1, 2, or 3 exchanging radio messages as we awarded points for such activities as cutting off taxis, post office vans, and buses. Excellent training for an eventual driving instructor! Eventually we joined/formed a band, generally known as Leather Reptile - outrageously loud and in the same vein as, yet years ahead of, Spinal Tap! Pete had two Marshall stacks squeezed into his bedroom in his parents’ modest Brentford house, and he never worried about turning it up to 11 - I have no idea what the neighbours thought of all this……..
Then I sent some time with him and the boys at Ellesmere Road, with hours being spent listening to all the music we loved and laughing along together as we did so ( there may have been some illicit substances involved, but I couldn’t possibly say for sure 🤪 ). Pete was undoubtedly one of the funniest guys I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Later we had a more melodic band, and I always loved playing with him. After I moved to the States, we never managed to stay in touch other than on the occasional visit, the last one being in 2005 when I was ‘stationed’ back over there with my family, sadly as it turned out only for a year. And that’s been it, apart from a FaceTime call here and there - and not enough. I’ll never forget this kind, funny, and loyal soul, and only wish I’d made more effort to visit with him and Carol more often. The world is a more empty place without Pete in it, and oh my God we could do with more like him.
Sending condolences to Carol and Raphie, and know that Pete will not be forgotten and we are always here for you, should you need anything at all xxx

  • Thank you Adam and Jayne. He so loved it when we FaceTimed recently and I am so glad we did. I thought we’d be coming to the US at some point and linking up with you here, too. I feel my future has been stolen and all my life with Pete is done. I can’t bear it! Everyday is survival and survive I must. He was so kind and funny and he often talked about the ‘early days’ often ending with a story about being at your mum and dad’s house one day (probably a Leather Reptile rehearsal) and your father’s booming voice bellowing ‘Adam, your mother want’s you.’ Whenever he talked about you he would impersonate your dad’s voice and fall about laughing. Now they are both gone. I’ll keep in touch and thank you for your support for Raphie and I. Friends and family are everything to us - always have been, but even more so right now. Xxxxxx
