Peter William Evans and Margaret Elizabeth (Reynolds) Evans, of Strood, Kent, both left this world peacefully within hours of each other on 1st & 2nd September, 2021 with compassionate care from the Wisdom Hospice, Rochester.
Peter was born in Rochester, Kent on 5th August 1944, the third and youngest son. He was an accomplished blacksmith, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Maggie was born in Rochester, Kent on 3rd July 1948 (but celebrated on the 4th….), the third of 4 daughters. She was a community nurse and care home worker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had an active social life and many friends through WI, Zumba, and line-dancing.
Pete and Maggie met when they were only 18 and 14 years old respectively and were then married on 12th July 1969. They shared a beautiful life together and were loving parents, enjoying traveling, and spending time with friends and family. They shared their love throughout their community with close relationships to many friends and neighbors.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Kathleen and is survived by his brothers, Brian and Godfrey.
Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence, Brenda and step father Jack, sister Gillian Larkin, and is survived by sisters Val Rose and Yvonne Hennessey.
They are both survived by their children Paul and wife Jane of Strood, son Gareth and wife Michelle, of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren Jessica, Joshua, Isabel and Olivia; and great grandchildren Lexi, Mason, Riley, and Elliot.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life at Medway Crematorium (Robin Hood Lane, Blue Bell Hill, ME5 9QU) on 24 September at 10.30am, followed by food and refreshments from noon onwards at the Sans Pareil pub in Frindsbury (ME2 4JS). The service will be viewable over the internet, please see access information at the end. Peter and Maggie will share a memorial tree along with many other family members at the crematorium.
