In loving memory of Noreen Parsons who sadly passed away on 21st August 2021
Noreen's childhood was spent in Kirkby-in-Ashfield until she went to teacher training college in Scarborough aged nearly 18 in 1954. She started her teaching career in Nottingham in 1956 and then married Ivan and moved to Keyworth in 1961 where she then taught for a further 30 years at two Keyworth schools, Keyworth Primary School on Selby Lane and Crossdale Primary School.
Noreen and Ivan had 2 children, Elaine and Clive.
She retired in 1991, 4 years after her husband sadly passed away, and spent many happy years with friends and family - walking with her walking group (the SLOGS - made up of teachers from Selby Lane), visiting her daughter in Germany, lunches and trips, singing in the choir, visiting the theatre and attending concerts.
She became a grandmother at the beginning of the new millennium and went on to welcome 3 more grandchildren.
Suffering a serious stroke in 2012 she suddenly lost her independence and was very reliant on carers and family but she recovered much better than was expected and was able to enjoy still being with family and friends and going out to garden centres, parks and shopping with some support and enjoyed a lunch club on a Tuesday which was arranged by the Keyworth and District Community Concern.
In her written wishes, she requested that any donations were to be given to the Stroke Association and the Keyworth and District Community Concern.
