In loving memory of Jack Dennis Lonergan who suddenly passed away on 14th August 2021.

He leaves behind his father Michael, partner Natalie and much-loved cat Winston, along with many dear friends and family members.

We ask everybody who was lucky enough to have known Jack to join us in celebrating his life on Tuesday 7th September 2021 at Lambeth Crematorium, SW17 0BY. The ceremony will start at 11am. We invite you to join us after the ceremony at AFC Wimbledon Stadium, Plough Lane for the funeral reception.

Please feel free to wear what you like; the dress code is casual and colourful. Wimbledon football shirts are of course acceptable.

We would prefer you to not bring or send flowers to the service. We ask instead that you make a contribution to the Music Department at St George’s School, a school which Jack held close to his heart.

Jack was my music technology teacher when I started sixth form in late 2018. He was a very generous teacher, very kind, very helpful, and very friendly. He is the reason why I produce and mix music, because he taught me all about it and fueled my dreams that made go to college the next year and start studying music production. I wish I could have met him or bumped into him so that I could have said thank you to him. I will forever go on to credit him as the man who inspired me to become a producer and mix engineer, as well as labeling him as one of the most influential people who ever entered my life.
Thank you Jack for everything you taught me, and I hope that your watching from up there as I am still determined to become what you inspired me to be. Rest in peace, Mr. Lonergan

  • Hi Ryan. Thank you so much for that lovely message. The messages that I’ve received from former pupils of Jacks are my favourites, and yours epitomises everything that he wanted to achieve as a teacher. Congratulations on continuing your musical studies - I can assure you that he would have been immensely proud of that. Follow your dreams. Michael Lonergan

Jack taught me music at A level last year. A brilliant brilliant teacher and human being. I'm so sad he's gone. We all are. All my deepest condolences to family and friends. I remember every Monday he would give us his music track of the week. One week, I was feeling crappy and he played 'move on up' by Curtis mayfield. It lifted my mood instantly and I have played it often since. I play it now as I write this message. Move on up Jack, move on up :)

  • This is such a beautiful message. Thanks for this, William. Glad to know his pupils loved track of the week as much as he did!

Jacko,
Thank you for all the great memories and times we had. It was an absolute pleasure knowing you. From watching the dons together on top of bales of hay, to the football league, I’ll cherish them memories forever. I still think about the time that me, you, your dad and my dad were on the underground and we couldn’t get on the tube 😂 Ping Pong, Ting Tong Don. Absolute legend. You were, and always were Wimbledon’s number 1 to me. Big love ❤️ Robbie x

  • Thanks Robbie, that brought a tear to my eye. Such happy and funny memories. I think Jacks favourite of you was when you were on crunches and took a tumble (Accrington or Morecambe away? somewhere like that) xx

We never had the pleasure of meeting Jack but I was always bowled over at the way you would drive down to London and back in a day to join Jack to watch Wimbledon play. It always struck me that you both had such a close relationship and spent special times supporting your team side by side. He sounds like a splendid young man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with you Michael and all those who knew Jack. Sending our love Claire, David, Grace and Harry xx

First meeting when he would come with Mick to our football training and also our matches for Carlton Fairweather FC. He always went in goal and didn't want us to go easy on him and back then was a better keeper than his dad. Seeing him grow up and watching football with him and knowing my son Fred had him as a mate was nice as he always made time for him and helped him out and was a good role model for him. All the memories I have of him are good and will be missed. RIP Jack x

  • Thanks Danny - Yes, I agree he probably was a better keeper than me even then! Jack thought the world of Fred, nothing was a problem when he needed some help.
