Well my lovely friend, you have travelled on a journey none of us were expecting 😢

Chrissy, you have been a huge part in my life since my first days working in the Borough of Erewash, way back in 1989. As a new community worker in the area it was suggested to me that I make contact with you (and Frank) due to your work with the disability information group: DIG. Little did I know then that such a meeting would bring with it a life time friendship both in work and personally.

From my first visit to your home, you and Frank made me so very welcome: you had also invited a room full of other local friends
neighbours and residents whom they thought might help me in my work to establish an Access Group...talk about surprise when I walked into your living room! You and Frank thought it hilarious to see my expression as I tried so hard to gather my nerve and greet all these unexpected, and expectant looking sea of faces. That's where it all began...soon we were sat with teas and coffees planning ideas and chatting about what people wanted to be part of.

After that I became a frequent visitor to your house, calling in to discuss meetings and surveys with you guys once Erewash Valley Access Group was formed. Dropping round boxes of information and leaflets regularly (pre Internet and WWW days)

I was always welcomed and you gave so much help to me and others in the Borough. No-one was more delighted than me when both you and Frank, campaigned and were elected as local Borough Councillors.
You worked hard in the community and earned respect from those at the Council and local residents whom you supported.

Still we chatted on the phone and met up at meetings with other mutual supporters of our group, happy, busy, constructive days filled with hard work but always laughter along the way.

Even after finishing my job in that role, we stayed friends. You were part of my wedding plans and the lovely clock you gave us still has pride of place in the living room.

Our shared love of music and puzzles became more of a focus in recent years, most especially during my pregnancy and any moments when my sleeping baby allowed... From her birth you were in Phöebe's life, lovingly referred to as "Pheebs" by you, Phöebe grew up and you to her were another Granny. She loved you so much, always dancing for you or drawing you pictures when we visited. She always enjoyed our lunches out so much too.

I'm so pleased we had chatted so much and so often throughout our social isolation and with me having to shield, courtesy of this dreaded pandemic. We had epic conversations, never a dull or quiet moment between us. We were hugely grateful to finally be able to return to visiting you and go out for lunch. Thank goodness for those times, where you would be fussing round chivvying us along to choose our meals from the menu. Your face, mostly deadpan expression although often mixed with mischief, almost without exception when asked what you would like?? A great chorus arose from anyone at the table: "Gammon!😋😉"

Thank you for your friendship Chrissy: you may have left us but we (and all your many family and friends) are so grateful for the joy you brought into all our lives.

With much love and big, big hugs
Bee and Pheebs ❤🤗🌻💐😘xxxxx
