CIAPPARA - Grace. Died peacefully on 20th July at home with her family, aged 80. Beloved wife of Joe, mother of Astrid, Dennis and Stephanie, grandmother to Thomas, Jordan, Holly and Gabriela, she will be sadly missed by all.
Grace's Mortal Remains will be received into St Gregory's Roman Catholic Church Northampton on Tuesday 4th August at 5.00pm.
Grace Ciappara was born in Malta, the eldest of four children. She qualified as a teacher in Malta, and whilst on holiday in London met a medical student, called Joseph. After a long courtship, and once Joe had qualified as a Doctor, they moved to England and settled in Northampton, where they had three children, Astrid, Dennis and Stephanie.
Once the children were at school, she immersed herself in various activities, the first being a catering course, where she obtained her City and Guilds Certificate. She then learnt to drive and this gave her the opportunity to spread her wings. She joined three amateur dramatic companies and performed in many productions over the years. She started doing cookery demonstrations at home, which were much enjoyed by the ladies of Northampton, and she was often on Radio Northampton discussing various recipes and even appearing on television in Malta.
Joe and Grace travelled all over the world with their family, which they loved to do, including countless holidays in Malta to see family. Another highlight was taking their grandsons, Thomas and Jordan, to Lapland.
Grace was a family woman and was never happier than when her family were all together around her. It is with some comfort therefore that Grace slipped away from this life, with her family surrounding her in her bed at home. She was one in a million!
