Paul Michael Mather OBE (27 Jan 1944 - 3 Aug 2021)

I was very sad to hear that Paul passed away ... far too early. It was 1997 when I met Paul first and I liked him from the very first moment, I liked his kind of humour, his deep scientific knowledge and his cooperativeness. We had a lot of good conversations. My links to the United Kingdom are deep and full of good memories, now a have to add Paul to those memories. I would like to add that Paul supported me in 2010 to boost my career. Thank You, Paul. Rest in piece now. I will never forget You, will conserve all the good memories, I lost a friend. My deepest sympathy is going out from Berlin to Your family.

Dear Ros & all the family, I’m so sorry for your loss, may Paul rest in peace.

Paul was an impressive and thoughtful academic, and very supportive of the whole environmental science community. He was incredibly thoughtful while I was reshaping a research unit at the University of Reading, and he was Chairman of our advisory committee. I will always be grateful for all his support, encouragement and advice.

My deepest sympathy to Ros and family on the loss of Paul, husband and father but at last his suffering is over. I have lost my closest friend of 50 years.
