An upstanding brother-in-law and friend whose only fault was he would rarely let me win on the golf course!
Will be greatly missed.

Alan was the "Ultimate Professional Detective", held in the highest esteem by Junior and Senior officers alike. I admired him tremendously and was able to enjoy the occasional golf day with him after retirement, but never won! Rest in Peace Alan

I was very sad at the loss of Alan who was a very good detective, always a gentleman and a very good boss. He was also always very good company.
He will be sadly missed.

Uncle Alan was a real inspiration to me growing up. I looked up to him as a young child in complete awe as to how he had gone from such humble beginnings in small town Trowbridge to the top of his career in the police. He was a lovely man and will be very missed

My very deepest sympathy to Diane. Served with Alan for many years in the Bournemouth Force and had so many great times playing in the Police team together and socially at Bear Cross. I always admired his professionalism in The Job and his rise in the police ranks was more than deserved. Such sad news. George, Mount Beauty, Australia.
