This page has been set up in loving memory of John Stephen Moore who sadly passed away on 28th July 2021.

John had a long life, reaching the grand old age of 92. He was born in Chiswick in 1929 then went to school and lived most of his childhood and early adult life in Chiswick and Hounslow. In his late teens he served in the Army in Egypt and then returned to west London where he loved to socialise and go dancing with his many friends. He worked at Commercial Union Assurance company where he met the love of his life, Pam. Pam and John got married in September 1959 and moved to Hockley in 1962. Over the next six years they had four children - Nicholas, Barry, Janet and Kevin - all born in the same house that John and Pam lived in for their 62 year marriage.

Throughout his life, John, along with Pam, did his very best to make sure that his family were looked after and loved. He achieved great success in this aim. He retired from Commercial Union at 60 then he and Pam spent a number of happy years seeing interesting parts of the world and enjoying the peace and quiet of an "empty nest" - although the arrival of 6 grandchildren would occasionally disturb the peace!

John was an honest, hardworking family man with a lovely smile and a great sense of humour. He would always think the best of people and it's impossible to imagine him ever offending anybody. One of life's genuinely nice people, he leaves behind a family that loved him dearly and several friends who's lives will have been made a little happier through knowing him. We will all miss him greatly.

The loss of a good man. In all the years I have known John I never heard him utter a cross word. A loving family man. I remember him substituting as my best man (after he was killed in a car accident) a few weeks before the wedding date, and he did it superbly. We didn't see much of John since I have lived in North Yorkshire but he was always in your hearts. RIP John, Pim & Celia.
