In loving memory of Janet Tyler who sadly passed away on 15th July 2021
Janet lived at ‘Peacehaven’ in Coddington with her mum & dad and younger sister Jo. She had a lovely childhood out in the countryside with spaniels, cats, pheasants, ferrets, hens and Grace the goose.
They had a large garden full of vegetables to feed the family as well as their Aunties and Uncles who lived locally.
They all worked in the garden, Janet being 5 years older learn't how to cook (I preferred the garden).
Christmas was great, they would have three parties with all of our relations. They were close to their cousins: John, Roma, Betty, Kay, Douglas, Tom and Victor, good times.
Janet was always on the end of a telephone to chat and help and give advice. She worked hard and was organised and dependable. She cared for people with love and empathy. We never had a disagreement, a lovely sister.
Janet went to I M Marsh PE college Liverpool and was head student, her first teaching position was Nottingham High school...she had various teaching jobs in the area with her last job at the Beckhampton and Rowan centre in 1992.
As a single parent during the late 70’s, Janet took her 3 children Andrew, Joanne and David on several family holidays abroad and taught them all to drive.
Janet met Jim in the early 80’s and were married on 11th February 1986.
Jim describes Janet as: not shirking her responsibilities and was always in her element when organising things for the benefit of other people.
She was a great cook and her scones and fruit cake will be sorely missed.
As a proud Grandma, she was always teaching her grandchildren whether that was pairing up socks or completing maths puzzles which had to be done in pencil so they could be rubbed out and done again at a later date or by someone else.
Janet and Jim enjoyed various holidays abroad with Jo and her husband Dave.
Janet excelled at Suduko, knitting, needlework, enjoyed all types of craft activities and was a member of various clubs.
Janet was the Bingham Bowls Club secretary for about 7 years and enjoyed planning a variety of social events during the year including badminton at the local village hall and theatre trips as well as playing competitive matches.
