During the funeral earlier today, as I watched I was taken over by absolute sadness. After sitting in this state for a little while, I began to find it almost comforting. Comforting in the fact that although I live on the other side of the world, I’ve been able to build up such a strong bond and connection with my beautiful grandma that I’m even able to feel these emotions at all. In order to make such amazing memories with my granny, I have to feel these emotions now. For that I am thankful. Thankful for all of granny’s calls and texts (some of them at 3 in the morning Australian time!), her beautiful smile, all of her love and everything that comes with it. I’ve never seen granny take, only give. Giving also includes the time granny returned the foldout tables to Costco the day after Christmas because she only bought them for the Christmas roast since she was technically giving back to Costco but that’s a whole other story. I don’t believe any one could found negative words to describe this amazing woman. I believe the biggest testament to her is the seed that she has left. That being my family. My father and uncles, the most amazing and beautiful people in their own right, my cousins who are the most lovely company and have found their way to success and also my sister who through my Dad and therefore my grandma’s guiding hand she is living the most amazing life herself. You will always be remembered through your actions or ours. I hope we do you proud, I love you granny. May we meet again soon.

Dearest Chrissie
I could not have asked for a better Mother in Law. Your love knew no bounds when it came to your children, maybe only surpassed by your love of your grandchildren. We were so lucky to have had so many years of being embraced by it. Your presence will be missed but I know you will be watching us each and every day.
RIP

1999 was the year the Cavanagh's and O'Callaghan's joined together as a family. That was also the year that began a dear friendship with Chrissy, whose thoughtfulness, hospitality, emails, and humour will be so very sadly missed. RIP
