After a long, well-lived life, Grandad, you will be greatly missed. I will not forget the way your eyes lit up when demonstrating some strange archaic piece of machinery to us as children or telling us tales from your own childhood. Finally reunited with Grandma, rest in peace Grandad.

A very successful life. Derek wouldn't let anything stop him from seizing on a good idea. We'll miss the stories of different times.

God bless grandad

Derek will be sadly missed by all. He was until the end a driving force and an interesting character.
I loved to hear his very well remembered tales of the School which he attended in Leicester, with giant Tortoises waundering around the playground. Also the tales of long gone ancesters long gone in Yorkshire.
They wer still very much alive to him and he brought them to life for us.
His bright light will be missed.
God bless him

My father always lived life to the full. He was never scared of taking chances and thrived on a challenge. He missed my mother very much after she died but he carried on with fortitude and stayed living independently right until the very end. He will be sadly missed.
