Anne Hockley donated £110 in memory of Ron

Ron, a very special Coach and friend to so many people from some of those friends at Phoenix Pay & Play Badminton Club that were unable to attend the service. Sadly missed by all. Thank you all for your donations which was very much appreciated by all his family and will be going to a very good Charity.

Adam Stainsbury donated £20 in memory of Ron

Ron, your kindness, patience and unique mentorship of so many budding Badminton players will leave a wake of sadness following your passing. Generations of children whom, like myself, felt confident and motivated to aspire to be as good as you, as a result of your genuine warmth, kindness and ability to bring the best out of people. As a teacher now myself, I know the kindness and warmth that forms my ‘style’ of teaching stems from the approach you had for all those years. I won’t forget the day I finally managed to underarm-serve the shuttle all the way to the back of the court and hit you on the head (thank you for leaning forward!) and the look on your face when I returned from university many years later and popped in to see you. Such a wonderful man, my only regret is not seeing more of you in recent years. Rest in peace, a true one in a million.

Dear Ron, it has been a privilege and honour to have known you as my friend and badminton partner for the many years we played for the Essex Veterans games and tournaments. The great times we shared and the wonderful lunches we had with Terry. They are memorable. I will miss you terribly. Rest in peace. God's blessings be with you.

You never liked it when I called you 'Uncle Ronnie'. It made you feel old you said. I teased you anyway because you were my only true Uncle. The family has changed again with your passing but I know that 'Families are forever'. In a realm not far away there has been a wonderful reunion.
I have stories to tell that would make you smile. The time I heard you sing 'Humpty Dumpty' in your sleep when I was sleeping over at Nan's many years ago. I will write about them and share them with the Daughters you can be so proud of. Til we meet again Ronnie may God bless you.
Much love from your niece and husband.
