In loving memory of Peggy Eileen Auger who sadly passed away on 9th June 2021

Peggy Eileen Baynton was born in Wapping, East London on the 23rd of May 1933, and was the first of five children (all girls) to Matilda and Stanley Baynton.

The family moved to Leyton soon after, where Peggy attended the local mixed school in Canterbury Road. It was whilst a pupil at the school, that she met her then future husband to be, Brian Francis Auger.

When Peggy finished school, she became a dressmaker and worked in London at a time when the town was becoming a globally recognised fashion hotspot. It was during this time that Peggy was fortunate enough to have made the outfits for some very influential and well-known clients of the day.

Following a friendship between Brian’s youngest sister (Pauline), and Peggy’s youngest sister (Dawny), Peggy and Brian reunited. They soon started courting and were to go on and marry on the 29th of August 1965.

After they married, and following the birth of their first child (Brian Stanley), Peggy gave up work to look after the new family, which was in time to grow by four new children (namely Jane Frances, twins Timothy James and Simon Charles, and Graham Andrew, the youngest).
