In loving memory of Martina Josefine Griffiths who sadly passed away on 12th June 2021
Martina Josefine Griffiths was born on the 2nd December 1962 in the medieval town of Meersburg on the shore of Lake Constance in Germany. Her family can be traced back over 500 years in Meersburg and originally the family were involved in vineyards and wine production.
Martina, or Tina as she is known to most people, is survived by her husband Philip, son Michael and sister Barbara.
Tina met her husband Philip on holiday in Portugal in 1992. Making the joint decision to base in the UK Tina moved to the UK in 1994 to start a life together in the UK. Tina did a variety of jobs starting as an Export Sales Administrator for Sapa Aluminium Extrusions in Tibshelf, Credit Controller for Strella Fabics in Nottingham. After the birth of her son Michael, she decided to qualify as a Child Minder and ran her own childminding business for 5 years before then moving back into the office to work as an Accounts Officer for the NHS at Kingsmill Hospital. Before retiring in 2017 Tina did several temp admin rolls in the NHS in Nottinghamshire.
Notwithstanding her career the most important things in Tina’s life where her husband Phil and their son Mikey – always going out of her way to look after them she has left a huge hole in their lives and is deeply missed.
During her life Martina had many interests over the years ranging from skiing, gardening, reading, cookery, cake baking, scuba diving – qualifying as rebreather diver, and mountain biking. With a gang of close friends Scuba diving took Martina all over the UK, from Cornwall to Scotland and Wales to East Anglia along with overseas trips to Thailand, Lanzarote, Malta, Red Sea and the Maldives. A keen mountain biker Martina could often be seen out at Sherwood Pines with her husband Phil and son Michael. There were also the many rides around Meersburg and Lake Constance in Germany when on one of many family holidays there.
We can’t miss out talking about the family dog Jack who Tina and Phil could often be seen walking that is when he could be persuaded to walk – he is well known for his reluctance at times to walk further than the end of the road.
Another of Tina’s favourite activities was shopping or rather browsing the shops which she could do for hours or until her husband Phil got the inevitable headache that required that they go home.
Tina was a big fan of action and fantasy movies – often going to an imax cinema to get the big screen experience.
Always looking out for her son Michael Tina could be guaranteed to shout out to Mikey on school mornings “are your shoes clean?” as one might imagine they were more often dirty than clean. Tina would then proceed to clean his shoes for him……..
Martina always had a smile on her face and was always happy to chat whenever she was out riding her bike or walking Jack.
Tina will be missed by all......
